After A Year At HubPages
It's Been More Than A Year
I just realized that I have been a part of HubPages for over a year. Fifteen months to be exact. I remember why I started here. I was trying to find a “quick, easy” way to make money to fund my tutoring business. I came across this site and have never left…at least not on purpose!
When I discovered HubPages, I rediscovered my passion for writing. I have written most of my life, but had strayed away from it in my first marriage. There was too much drama in my life to have time for writing – except for the occasional poem or short story for college. Until I discovered HubPages, I had forgotten how much I truly missed writing.
Once I started writing, I found it hard to stop. I don’t always have the greatest ideas to write about, and I still haven’t even made my first payout, but I have found a home here on HubPages. I found a community of supportive people who also happen to be some of the greatest writers from around the world. I found people willing and able to help me through the process of becoming a better writer. I found new friends that will be friends forever.
I have written many types of writing here. I still love writing about my students, but I have found that I can also write about other things – health, religion, views on America, issues that affect everyone. As I said before, I may not be the best writer on all of these subjects, but I do enjoy writing about it all. Because the community here is so supportive, I have felt comfortable trying new things. I get support and constructive criticism from writers who really know their stuff. It makes writing more enjoyable.
I have learned a lot about myself in the process of writing for HubPages this last year or so. I have learned how to write through my personal issues and share them with others who may have the same issues. I have been able to read about others who have similar issues and learn from them. I have gained great knowledge about myself and the world, just by being here on this site.
I look forward to being on HubPages for a long time. I have tried writing for sites that pay more money, but I have never found a site that I treasure as much as I do HubPages. Thank you friends for allowing me to be in your presence!
