My First Twenty Dollar Month At Hubpages

Updated on May 9, 2013

How about 10c a hub per month?

If you new you could make 10 cents per hub per month, why wouldn't you write a thousand or more hubs?
If you new you could make 10 cents per hub per month, why wouldn't you write a thousand or more hubs?

I Made $20 Here On Hub Pages In May 2013

So like I said, I have been writing for various different sites including hub pages for about 3 years now, but I have not written any recent hubs here at hub pages for quite some time now. That does not mean that I have given up on hubpages. I did think about giving up at one stage and I am often discouraged by the little amount of money that I have made over the past few years, but I still keep at it.

I must state early (now) that I do still have a full time job, because my internet related activities only make me enough money to buy an occasional book and some christmas presents for my kids from amazon.com. That still ads up to a couple hundred dollars a year, though.

Anyway, for most of last year, 2012, I made anywhere from $5 to $10 dollars a month from the hubpages ad program and I have been making roughly the same from adsense each month as well, but since the beginning of this year, 2013, I have noticed that just a few of my older hubs are making nearly all of my hubpages earnings. So here is what I did!

I sat down for a whole day to review those hubs to see if I could find similarities and characteristics that those few hubs had, that my other hubs didn't have.

You want to know what I found?

My most popular 3 hubs that make me the most amount of money are hubs that I wrote on the fly. On the fly means that they were written quickly, without the need to research anything, because they are about things that I know a real lot about. Does that spark a thought in your mind? It certainly did mine.

So, it does not matter as much about what the keywords are or whether the article is keyword rich or keyword poor or whatever. What really matters most is finding a way to keep the reader on the page. Sometimes just keeping the reader interested in your page longer will make you money from ad impressions 'not clicks'. Clicks make much more money faster, but ad impressions all add up, too.

So, what I did was I went to take a look at my poorest performing hubs to see if I could make them better, and you know what? I could make nearly all of them a little better than they were at the time.

The result is that my hub pages monthly earnings have been increasing by roughly 20 percent a month over the last few months and I have done nothing other than edit and tweak content that I wrote ages ago.

How To Make a Ton Of Money With Hubpages

Time To Make Some New Hubpages Goals

Since getting a little bit of extra money from my hubs, I have decided to get back on the wagon and write some new hubs. This hub being the first one. I am not sure exactly what my new hubs are going to be about, but I still have my uncompleted list of hub titles that I wrote 3 years ago when I was trying out for the 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. A good challenge that was, too.

In fact, it is those hubs that continue to make me the most amount of traffic and earnings even now. So, I am planning to create a new list of idea's for 30 hubs in 30 days and then I am going to pull my finger out and start writing my little bum off. (It's not so little...haha!) Just a figure of speech.

What Are The Most Popular Hubs Here At Hubpages?

I have to ask myself this question right now. Actually, I have been asking myself this question at various times throughout my hubpages career (3+years). This is the first time I have decided to write about my findings, though.

In my opinion, the most popular hubs here at hubpages are hubs that talk about the following topics:-

Hubpages in general, how to make money on hubpages, how to get traffic to your hubs, or how to get more traffic to your hubs and the list goes on and on.

So, if you want to get some more traffic and make some more money, why not take the time to write some quality hubs about YOUR experience here at hubpages. It is inspiration for others. Many people love nothing other than reading about another hubbers experience and / or success story.

My success story is that I am making $20 a month just from the hub pages earning program. It is only slightly more than 60 cents a day, but with a little effort I should be able to grow it to a dollar a day which would make it $30 dollars a month. Thirty bucks a month is $360 for the whole year and that is enough to buy a whole bunch of nice presents for the family when Christmas comes around.

So, do you want to know what I have learned in the last few years?

Internet marketing is not going to make me really rich just yet, it may in the future ( I hope), but in the meantime, the little bit of money that I make is nice to have. It certainly makes life a little bit easier.
