Oh My Goodness! I Have Written 50 Hubs

Updated on July 24, 2013

This is My 50th Hub!

I am pleased to announce that this is my 50th hub!! I am sitting here in stunned amazement as I write this down. I joined hubpages 2 months ago and my original plan was to write about 2 or 3 hubs for the month. I was happily going along thinking that I would be doing well if I was able to write 10 hubpages by the end of the year. However a couple of things happened during the month of June 2009 which spurred me on to write write write.

Setting Challenges And Goals -The 30 Hubs in 30 Day Challenge and The 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge

I was reading a post on a blog explaining that a challenge had been set to write 30 hubs within the space of 30 days. That breaks down to one hub a day. Crazy I thought. How would anyone find the time to write all that stuff, let alone find interesting topics to write about. I commented on a few people’s pages wishing them good luck and I intended to watch from the sidelines.

Then I read that someone else had decided that they were going to try and write 100 hubs in 30 days in order to see if money could be made using this platform. Now I thought, this guy is either insane or he has a band of writing ninjas working diligently for him.

In the end several people took on the challenge and that was the beginning of a writing frenzy. I read a lot of good stuff that was produced. I am also very pleased to say that I provided one hubber with an idea for an article. By the end of the 30 days a lot of people were able to successfully reach their 30 hub target but very few achieved the 100 hub goal.

Why I Decided To Step Up My Own Writing Ambitions

What really got me motivated to write more was reading the progress reports that a blogger called Ben wrote at make money online with seo. He set about the task of finding good keywords and good topics to write about. His aim was to find out how much money he could generate within the 30 days. He stepped up his own challenge by increasing the number of hubs he wanted to write to 200 in 30 days.

I have to say that his blog posts were inspirational. They were so detailed and good humoured that his energy was infectious. By the end of the 30 days he had written over 250 hubs (not to mention the number of ezine articles as well as his epic blog posts) and earned a good sum of money from adsense and eBay. I thought that if he could do it then why can’t I? He has a full time job and still managed to produce copious amounts of stuff online.

My Personal Hubpage Writing Challenge

So my mini challenge to myself is to create my own 100 hubs in as short a time as possible. I am now at the halfway line and am very pleased with my achievement. I have already done far better than I had expected. The important thing to remember is that it is no good just thinking about doing something, you have to take action.

I know that I was afraid of failing so I couldn’t even contemplate such a mammoth task of creating so many hubs in such a short space of time but I am taking it one day at a time and I am writing as much as I can.

This hub was actually written while sitting on the train on my way to work. I usually read a book or one of the free newspapers but I have found that I have been able to write one or two articles during my journey. Once I get to work I type everything up (let’s hope the boss doesn’t notice) and I put together my hubpage when I get home in the evening.

So – 50 hubs done – 50 hubs to go. Bring it on.!
