What is marketing? A hubpages perspective
Almost all of us are aware with this word called “Marketing”. Most of us would associate the meaning of this word with advertisement and selling. In old times this concept of marketing as “telling and selling” was right but in this modern age it is not only about advertisement. This word means a lot more now.
In old times it was easy to tell someone about a product or service, convince them and make a sale. In modern age it is lot more complex. First step is to understand what is the need of the customer? Second step will involve the assessment of demand. In the third step product or service is produced and presented in the market. In the fourth step advertisement is done. In the fifth step the sale occurs.
Definition of Marketing
“The process by which companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers in return”
(Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, Veronica Wong, John Saunders-Principles of Marketing-5th European Edition)
Is this definition correct?
My opinion on this is affirmative. Let us analyze this definition by keeping hubpages in mind. There are many hubs around advising new hub writers to search for what people are looking for. This way you get to know what is the need of the customers and the demand. You then write content regarding those topics and publish them on hubpages. Hubpages in this regard acts as a market where people come to read the content on the topics of their interests. You can advertise your content either on Google or by using social networking websites like facebook, pinterest, twitter and many other websites. This attracts visitors or customers to your product or content and if they are impressed they will visit again. It is the quality of your content that drives them again and again to your profile at hubpages.
