I'm very sorry if it was answered anywhere, but I couldn't find any info.
I have filled all the info and received my affiliate ID from Amazon. Now, how can I track or be sure in any way that the link provided through my hub will in fact be linked to my affiliate account? I've given my affiliate ID to the hub subscription form. Does that ensure that all product promoted for Amazon will be linked to that ID ? I would have expected that my Amazon affiliate ID code would have been needed on every ad I place for them...
The Hubpages capsule automatically grabs your affiliate ID from your account info and tacks that ID onto the end of the links it puts in the Amazon capsule. There's a mini-script that does it, just like the script that automatically displays your user profile image and link in the upper righthand corner of every hub you write, without your having to put it there.
However, your ID only shows 60% of the times that visitors come to your hub; Hubpages randomly adds its own ID about 40% of the time. That's how Hubpages can afford to be our free web host.
To test it, click an Amazon link on your page and look at the URL to see if your code is part of the URL. Amazon IDs usually end in something-20. If it's not there, try reloading the hub several times, as the link will be credited to you sometimes, Hubpages other times.
Most article publishing sites work this way, randomly crediting some affiliate and ad clicks to our affiliate IDs, some to the host site's ID. Part of the tradeoff of using these sites is that we have to trust that the site in good faith really is crediting our affiliate IDs randomly according to whatever ratio (60-40 on Hubpages) they've set.

Amazon changed their affiliate program yesterday by cutting the payout for most affiliates by half or more. Has HubPages addressed how these changes will affect content providers here?

For my first hub I asked my mom if it would be alright for me to do a review of her book. She agreed and I wrote one up. I intended to post a link from my hub to her book on amazon, however, upon further reading I read it is generally a good idea to have one or two hubs already posted before I try...
