The abandoned office I am living in doesnt have a TV and I am bored out of my mind.

Been homeless for a few weeks now. Evidently, in Detroit, it is totally not illegal to sell somebody a contaminated house that will kill them in their sleep.

Good news is that since I moved out, my health is much better.

Ive been gone so long Im not even sure who is left here at HP... Im interested to see who stops in to say hi.

    smile

**note: excuse my typos. This battered old Mac Book has a couple broken keys  lol

I am not your follower, yet, stopped to say HI. Is there any chance to return to that house after it is de-contaminated?

Hello & happy to meet you

Yes, actually, I am having that work done now. All of my things had to be de-contaminated or disposed of. So I have some new furniture to buy lol

They tore out walls in every room except one, and all the carpeting had to go. They were able to save my kitchen cabinets thank goodness.

A few hubbers know whats been going on with me but: the poison was coming from black mold in the walls. yuck.

Obviously I havent been able to be active at HP during all this & I miss my hubber buddies!

Everything will be fixed & ok again in a few weeks. So this is all good news.

Nice to meet you - I will check out your hubs. smile

Then, it is not so bad if not count almost  ultimate rebuild and necessity to pay for tons of materials and coffe breaks for people smile Wasn t that cheaper to sell this house and to buy an other one?

it was a hard decision to make. I would rather have moved out... however, the house would not have sold. Detroits economy has been one of the worst in the country.
There is a vacant house across the street that has been up for sale for over a year, and it doesnt even have mold lol
Houses are for sale on every block in my neighborhood.

Put it this way: it would cost me way more to move than to de-contaminate.
Still, it was a tough decision.

Hi there.  Fairly new to HP myself...not quite two years in.  I live near Detroit.  If you're ever interested,  I'll treat to a cup of coffee and we can yak about HP and the Motor City and all it has been and could be.  I'll keep your situation in my thoughts.  Wish you the best - and a speedy return back home!

Right on!  GO TIGERS!!  I keep saying now would be a great time for them to bring home a WS title.  I think it would bring up the spirits of the folks in the area, and that sure couldn't hurt, given the crap we've been through for the last few years.

Yup.  I'm about an hour from you, then.  I have a friend in Allen Park, and another in Dearborn, so I'll be out your way eventually.

well then, there you go. I love what a small world it is.
One of these days we will have to go grab some coffee.

About the Tigers though: last time they made it to WS was exactly when me and my ex were going thru a divorce. Im starting to associate October baseball with bad times
          lol lol

Verlander is PUMPED! And Ive always liked Coke. Happy to see him doing well.

Oh no!  My nephews were born that year, just before October.  There's something good to keep in mind.  smile

One thing's for sure - with the possible exception of Valverde, Tigers have the best pitching in MLB for sure!  And possibly the best they've ever had!

              right on.

Its hard to write off papa grande tho, after what he did last year. People must have studied him like crazy and found something to take advantage of.

I think everyone's just sour on him right now.  Detroit fans don't give up on anyone that easily!  Look at Fielder.  We took him when other teams thought he would be a liability.  HA!

Hi Jen, it's good to see you.  Ugh- I'm so sorry to hear about your house- what a nightmare!  How did you come upon the abandoned office?  I hope it's safe...  How much longer until your house is cleared of the mold?

Anyway, I'm glad to see you back around.  There aren't a lot of us left from the old days, sadly.  But there are a lot of awesome new people!

      Happy to see you big_smile

Contractors estimated 6-8 weeks. Ive been out of the house for 3. But they are a good week ahead of schedule (and probably under budget too. They are getting used to me hugging them lol)

The office is actually on the same floor as my department at work. It is very safe here, and I dont have to deal with the junkies and wife-beaters that were my neighbors at the only Motor Inn that was in my price range.

      hee hee

yep, its sad to see so many buddies missing from HP. But life does go on...

'Ello there. Sorry about your mould problem needing such a drastic solution - I remember you posting about it a few months back.

We had no idea how bad it was when I posted back then...
It turned up in every room but one.

I actually got an air purifier and used it all summer. What I didnt know then, is that even after the spores are dead, they are still poisonous.

But- I will still use it in the future. I like the idea that it kills the mold and, even tho the source has been eliminated and the house will stay safe, I will be forever paranoid. lol
