Hubscore dropped suddenly by 18 points

Why would a hubscore dropped drastically all of a sudden after maintaining a steady score? It's a poem and it dropped from 66-70 points over night to 51. It stands out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of my hubs. Is it related to some algorithm change?

I have no idea. But your post prodded me to go tweak and tweet my own poetic masterpieces.

Thanks, para. I'll do that in the meantime.

tweaking is akin to flogging a dead horse. They'll be another home for them, where they do well and earn. Some things will earn for you here and some wont. Move what doesn't do well here and give them a chance to http://hubpages.com/x/spinner.gifearn, expand and what does do well here and write more of it. See, I am a genius (not)

My internet connection is up the wall, and I have to keep copying and pasting my replies and then wait for connection. I have no idea where that daft link in the middle of my post came from.

Thanks for the advice, Holly. I see that's the trend now in order to breathe new life into quality work. Finding another venue, getting an account, and participating in another community is something I cannot realistically fit into my schedule right now. I have a business website for my private practice but that's for counseling-related articles and poetry. I don't think a poem about "a poet having a dry spell" will fit there. I have an idea about how to beat this dead horse up one more time and see if she can hang in there for a few more months.

Worth a shot, and I well and truly understand how difficult it can be when you have several irons in the fire. But still, even if they don't do well here it doesn't mean that they wont do well elsewhere. smile Some things will do well here. Suppose we have to just keep experimenting.

        We are all doomed...

Actually, I just had a speculative thought. What if HP now does a sudden hubscore drop as a prelude to idling? Sort of a warning shot, so to speak. big_smile

And for the record, my poems are also my lowest scoring hubs. My photo gallery hubs are my next lowest. I'm reasonably certain that HP is not thrilled with either of those categories, especially when the hubs in question are not exactly barn-burners when it comes to traffic. I don't plan on doing any more new ones of either category. smile

I was thinking the same thing, para, but didnt want to say it. With this new eval system, I think it's the "precursing omen" to idling status. This particular poem hasn't been getting traffic at all. Interestingly enough, I believe that this is the same (and only) hub I've ever had idled. I woke her up in a day with minor editing several weeks ago. It's so sad. I haven't been doing much poetry for this reason, focusing more on building a good number of quality articles that have potential to do well online.

Sometimes I think their hubscores are completely made up.  My top rated hub is my least popular one, with the fewest words and photos.  I don't understand it!

Yes, it is confusing at times, bumbershoot. Those that I work harder on don't necessarily get the best rating or most traffic. But as paradigmsearch indicated, all poetry hubs have consistently been my lowest rated, ranging from high 60s to low 70s. I will have to make some adjustments to what ever is happening.

janshares, I've noticed since I started practically that my overall hubscore remains between 78-80. So when I add a new hub and it starts out in the upper 40's or lower 50's my other hubscores increase to keep me in that 78-80 range. My actual hubscores after the initial few days of building up momentum remain between 68 - 100 but one can drop from the top area to the middle if another one goes up to keep my average of 78-80 constant. I hope I didn't confuse you with all this. I wish I could do a screen shot to show you what I'm talking about.

I get what you're saying, HoneyBB. My average has basically stayed the same, but it did drop a few points when that hub was at the dreaded 49. I did some editing and tweaking and it's up to 57 now with increased views. I also noticed that ads have been removed, only those at the bottom remain. As I and paradigmsearch surmised, it may be an omen that it will eventually be idled. No sweat, it comes with the territory.
