Not to interrupt the flow ladies but just wanted to say to paradigmsearch that it's nice to see some familiar names since I've been back...so many people I used to follow are gone with the wind! Been trying today to acclimate to the changes implemented the past two years and of course to catch up on the bitching! Have a good holiday to you both and I'm looking forward to reading your new hubs.
Is that ban on live feeding for all of Australia or just the city you are in? I have a Tegu but do not have a snake because of the problem obtaining mice where I live. The Tegu eats anything (unhatched eggs from my incubator, lunchmeat, some fruit, and the occassional keet-guinea chick-that hatches deformed). My geese cannot tell the difference since he has a long tail and flicks his tongue but if he was a snake he would go hungry a lot.
"Not enforceable" sounds like Brasil. We have a socialist government and they pass hundreds of new laws every session of congress, thinking they are making our lives better. No one ever enforces anything though. I had snakes in college and fed frozen mice, which I could get free from the labs. No sources here though, which is why my Tegu is so great. (He will even share a papaya with my parrots if nothing else is available.) Not sure about his religion. He won´t eat shellfish either, which is kind of weird.
