Whats the average words per hub that you have?
I know its mostly about quality that gets readers to keep reading but I think that some of my hubs are way too long for readers to finish and therefore don't. I was just curious to see how long your hubs were and what makes them work.
My average is probably around 1000 - 1200 words. Some have a lot more, some are around 800. I don't usually go below 800 words. I think about 1500 is a good limit.
I always use a lot of subheadings so that the reader, who will most often skim to find the bit they're interested in, can find what they are looking for more easily.
between 400 to 500 . i like to keep them short and sweet because, to be honest, most people don't have the time to read a huge and lengthy article.

I made a hub using only a section of a novel as those who looked at my first hub all said it was too long and didn't really mention anything else. I am wondering if the forum can tell me whether or not this shorter excerpt has some chance of being read and all of the other things that are bound to...

I have tried the learning centre for this and if it is covered there and I have missed it, I apologise.I know that ideally we should create a number of Hubs around a topic when we think this might be a problem but in this very specific case and in relation to the idea I am kicking around in my head...

what factors help you decide if a hub is too long? I know different styles of hubs based on topics and what not help determine how long it is going to be. I worry about what is to many words though.
