Can we use flickr photos on our hubs?
I have noticed some hubbers using other people's photos and wondered about the legalities of using photos from flickr and other photo sharing sites.
Flickr has an area called, Creative Commons, as far as I know, these are all public domain pics, although they do have restrictions, they are not available to use commercially, say, using as an illustration to an article that you are trying to sell to a publisher.
Also, you can't just go to a Flickr gallery page and use a pic unless the member has specifically indicated that the pics are for free use, but even then, they still carry a non-commercial rider.
There are many free stock libraries on the Internet, they all include information on their limitations and terms.
Contrary to popular belief amongst many web surfers, the laws of copyright exist here as well, we can't just take something we want and use it.

Why can't I download Flickr photos for free? I constantly default to using Wiki Commons.

Every time I upload a pic and read the message that the pic link counts in my hub links I get the impression that my hubs could get penalized. I went through the learning Center and the FAQ and I did a few searches trying to find clarification on the whole "overly promotional" issue --...
