Each article with an Amazon Link to a DVD is slowly but surely getting snipped as "spammy." Here is what I wrote with the link removed for the DVD Black Dynamite:
One part is the starring role in Black Dynamite, a ‘70s movie that capitalized on the black people as stereotyped characters and an impressive fighter of crime.
Should I heavily recommend the movie in order to keep the link to the DVD?
Good point. I will write about owning it as well.
One thing I always try to do is sell a product that people have difficulty finding locally and is not "common". Hard to do with books and DVDs.
Hi Kenna,
Was your article on a commercial topic ("Top 10 Films to Give as Gifts" for example)? If not, you really have to make a compelling case to your readers.
For example, craft articles are not typically commercial topics, but authors can make a case for including products where it genuinely benefits readers: "You can make this craft project with items commonly found at home, but I find that using this specialized product makes the process go much faster. This is the one I own and use regularly, and I highly recommend it."
Christy, Thank you for HP insight. This is helpful.
I would suggest a recommendation more along the lines of -- "to truly appreciate the extent of these stereotype you should watch this movie and note how...[describe the features of the stereotype]. In later roles such as [xxx] his characters were more realistic and diverse as a potential roles for people of color became broader". That would show what the person would learn about the actors career from that movie.
Is the article specifically about the DVD? Is it related to the title and content of the article? Did you use it for writing the article? I've found overkill often is necessary so you can't just say you own it you have to say you own it, and have watched it and have used it in the writing of this article. With some editors you can get away with less with some of them it doesn't matter what you say they'll snip it. Good luck.
Natalie, I am inclined to agree with you. Overkill the DVD and hope the link sticks.
I thought I would update everyone and let them know I added a link to a DVD. But, I added the link to a different article and related to the movie more and REALLY recommended it (I didn't use Caps in my article). Fingers crossed, I will let you know what happens.

I'm planning a hub about one particular actor in one particular scene of a movie. Without a visual representation of the actor in the scene the article would be meaningless, but no free or non-copyrighted photos appear to exist. To me this seems a classic case for Fair Use, as reflected in this...

A hub of mine was snip edited almost two months ago to remove the source for a quoted word definition (but not the quote!!!) and to remove links to related articles on the same topic. It hasn't been moved to a niche site so I'm wondering if they just mistakenly thought it was appropriate for the...

I have a love/hate relationship with Adwords and Adsense.A lot of times it's great - and at other times I think it's just plain dumb to use it. For example, in cases where the ads that will be served up would be in conflict with the purpose of the page on which they appear. One of my hubs discusses...
