Can any keyword experts help me figure out what's going on here?

I published this article initially in 2011 and it did fine up for awhile, appearing in Google Search for keywords like Highest Paid Nurses.

Then, according to the article Stats, something happened in May 2015 when no Google Searches were showing the article.

I can't even get the article to appear in Google Search with title keywords AND MY FULL NAME -- it just does not show up at all. (Interestingly, my other nursing articles on other sites are showing up on Google.)

I updated the figures for the article in 2016 and was about to do it again when I discovered the ranking issues.

    https://hubpages.com/business/Best-Payi … es-in-2010

I have other HubPages career articles like this one that are showing up fine in Google Search.

    Can anyone help me?

Without even looking at the article, I can see your problem. Who, in the world, is looking for pay rates for 2010?

Perhaps you need to rewrite, update, and republish under a new url? Best advice is to not tie yourself to a year. So make sure your url is something like bestpaymentratesfornurses

It will require updating every year.

Having taken a quick glance, I'd also say that it is way too short and some of your links are not pertinent to the title. Consider adding in some info about working in other countries, perhaps?

    Good luck.

Edit: Just wanted to say... there's no need to worry about keywords these days; it's all about quality content. Google is looking for good related key phrases. It is able to discern what information to expect on a topic.

      Thank you, theraggededge.

So, in your assessment, updating it (which I was intending to do) should rank it higher? Keyword or not, the article still has to be found on Google.

Also, doesn't republishing it under a new url lose its previous history with Google, which would make it start at the bottom again as a new, instead of established article?

In this case, there is nothing to lose by using a new URL. If Google is not giving you any traffic now, it won't give you any in the future. That 2010 reference has to go.

Think about it. If you are looking for current information on any topic and you see that the link has 2010 in it, you aren't going to click it, are you? So even if it appears on the first page of results, it won't do you any good.

Whether updating ranks you higher, you are almost obliged to keep the information current. Otherwise there is no point to publishing it.

Thanks much. I'll also submit it to ToughNickel after updating to see if that helps.
