Appreciate some help! One of my better performing hubs have been stolen by this site:

    justmytrips dot com

Using Whois, I wrote to the registrar, but they immediately respond by saying they can't do anything; I should contact the host.

Further checking revealed the host to be cloudflare.com. But is Cloudflare a web host? I thought they were a CDN service.

    Any suggestion?

I usually go through a routine:

make direct contact with warning email asking them to take down your article.

go to whois and contact appropriate people.

      file a DMCA with Google.

I am usually successful so persist and go for that DMCA if all else fails.

”To whom it may concern..(who? or whom?..whatever). The article listed on your website is in direct violation of the digital millinium copyright act as this is an article that has been copied. I am the owner of this content and you have two options. Either remove the content or feel free to use it at a base cost of $150.00 US dollars PER WORD. Please contact me within 24 hours so we can discuss payment..I accept PayPal only.. If this is not an option, promptly remove the stolen content to avoid any further legal matters. Thank you”

It's worked for me in the past (no money offers though lol) If no response then I use the standard dmca through Google

Better to file the DMCA with their Webhost. Google will only remove from their own search results (unless it's a Google-owned property, like Blogger). It can still be found via other SEs.

Use Whois to determine the host.

I rarely bother with the site owner unless it looks like a genuine mistake.

Thanks for sharing, theraggededge. I have another question. How long do webhosts typically take to respond?

Cloudflare wrote back to highlight they are but a pass-thru service, content deployment, blah blah. But they did reveal the actual host. I've written to them but I 'm wondering how long it takes for enforcement to be done.

Is there also the likelihood that the webhost might ignore my complaint?

It's really 'how long is a piece of string?' I had two taken down within a couple of hours recently, but another one took about three weeks as their webhost kept prevaricating. In the end I told them I would be filing a DMCA with Google and also sent them an invoice, and that shifted it pretty quickly.

Edit: the host rarely ignores it unless Chinese or Russian. Any decent company has a reputation to maintain and they wouldn't want you tweeting about them, would they big_smile

Thanks. That's what I'm concerned about, actually. Will keep your advice in mind and fingers crossed, it wouldn't go that way.

Rascals are now shifting their site about. Their previous webhost, from a day ago, just emailed me about the shift.

I don't understand why they are doing this. There are no ads on the site. It has no SEO presence. What are they hoping to gain??

So sorry. Could someone help me check whether the scam site is still online?

    justmytrips . com (remove spaces)

I can no longer see it. But some online services say the site is still up. Makes me wonder whether they did something with the deployment service to fool me into believing the site is removed. (I don't know. Maybe they realized where I'm complaining from and is barring my entire region, or something)

    Thanks.

      I've just googled

      just my trips . com

and it is there. Seems a well established site - 2009 it claims - so I would keep emailing with strong words...see robhampton's comment in this thread..go to whois.com for appropriate contacts....and then file DMCA.

      Persist.

      Good luck.

Bah!! Site is back up. But good news seems that my article was removed.

Thanks all, for your advice. Would strongly recommend you spread the word around to other hubbers to check whether they are victimized by this site too. Practically everything there is stolen.
