I published my latest article without noticing that its URL has a word repeated twice. Of course I did edit the title but it is the URL that's important, right?

Would it bring down the quality of my article. Should I delete and re-publish the article with a new URL?

I don't think it would make much difference smile A repeated word would be less noticeable than a contradictory word.

Where did you hear or read that it is the URL that is important? It is my understanding that the title is important, the URL not so much.
I usually change my titles after about a year if they are not having any success getting traffic. The URL, of course, stays the same so I make it very general so that it works either way.
When I first started, I had some very wrong URLs. As far as I can tell it had no effect on traffic.

I read about framing a good URL in lobobrandon's hub about on-page SEO guide. Though I didn't read that part thoroughly, I remember there was a section about it. I might have assumed that it's important.

I've made spelling mistakes in URLs, Sherry. On one, I spelled "poem" as "peom" and on another about women's bathroom use, I misspelled "public" as "pubic." hmm It just occurred to me why I can't seem to get that one on a niche site, lol. I tried at least twice. lol

Ohh that must have been bad. Let's hope to be careful next time before hitting that "publish" button.

It happens to the best of us! If you JUST published and it bothers you, feel free to delete and re-publish—that won't affect traffic, and it'll go through the QAP process the same way.

If it's been published for a while and has seen a steady stream of traffic, it's better not to give that up for a little typo. smile

I published it like 2 days ago. So I guess re-publishing would be better than waiting to see if it will create a problem. Thank you for the reply. ☺
