Huh! Nope its not. Where did you spot them?
I saw them too. Funny thing is, the link options below the ads says chitika and opt out. I was angry because I did not 'opt in' in the first place, plus getting banned from adsense still hurts.
I have gone over to chitika to apply with my hubpages url. I hope I have not gone too fast?
The Chitika ads you all are seeing are in fact part of the Ad Program. We're conducting a two-week test to see how the Chitika ads perform compared to the Google custom javascript ads normally running above the share bar.
Thanks for the feedback!
Hi Pepples, it would have been nice to inform the community before so we are aware. Just saying......
I think that was addressed to me? We typically don't make an announcement before ad tests. For long-term and/or permanent changes, we'll be sure to post one.
The Chitika Ads are from the AdChoices Pool, also known as the DoubleClick Partner Network, of which Chitika is apart of, as well as HubPages. Looks like one of their search ads was put into rotation.
James
NOTE THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER.
If I get you right jacharless, Chitika ads in this regard cannot be displayed on hubpages i.e as an affiliate of chitika?
Correct.
Unless HubPages partners with Chitika, are unable to offer "stand alone" Chitika ad placements. Honestly, it would not make sense for HP to do so, as they are already a DoubleClick Partner.
James.
Thanks. Then it is more likely that my application to chitika using hubpages url will not go through, right?
Don't think so. Try resubmitting the URL (domain) using your private site or Blogger site.
Hmm. Might have to retract my statement, earlier.
Seems every hub I read today has a Chitika/AdChoice Related Search Ad, just above the commentary/rating area. Odd.
I've got them on most of my hubs as well - and I'm seeing them when I read other Hubber's Hubs. I think they look great. The ones I'm seeing are targeted to the topic and flow into the content well.
Well, if Chitika is being implemented as an AdSense-HubAd alternative, then this is awesome! If not, phoo-ee.
I think it's a good move. I never did well in Chitika because I didn't have the traffic volume, but HubPages definitely does. If this is a part of HubAds, it could potentially drive up earnings.
Anyone seeing an increase in CPMs?
I do have it a bit higher these past 2 - 3 days. I doubt its because of these ads
So wait -- do we need to be signed up for Chitika for them to show up? I'm a bit confused on where users play in this.
It looks like this is just part of the HPads program, so we don't have to be signed up. At least I hope so. Don't you think the Hubpages staff would have let us know if there was a change?
There's been no formal announcement, that I am aware of.
So it might be either a test-phase apart of the HubAd (DoubleClick affiliation) or independent. I can only hope it is the later, as Google cut me off nearly days after joining HubPages. And the requirement to have Google account to qualify for HubAds, has rendered revenue on my hubs null-void. Which is the reason I deleted 100 hubs and changed accounts.
James.
Was Chitika an ad program we had on Hubs in the past and it was removed as it was not working well for HubPages or the writers here? Or was that another type of ad.
I know there was an alternative to Adsense when I joined, but I cannot remember its name. It was one that I never signed up for but I think it put links into your text.
Chikita are pretty famous for being useless from what I have read in the past.
Well, I'm for it if it is used part of the ad program. I hope they continue to use adsense along with the Chitika. Only once in a while do I do anything from adsense. I make more on the the Hubpages ad program. I wonder if they change the placement of adsense ads if that would help us? I kind of wish we could place our own adsense where we would like it. I think that would help. Just a comment

This is disconcerting: I've diligently tracked all Adsense revenues from my hubs for a year averaging roughly > forty five cents a click. In the past couple of months (since the new Hubpages ads option has become available, which I personally don't use) my adsense clicks average a lousy ten...

Yesterday I noticed NONE of my hubs have AdSense ads on them any longer... where the ads were there is only a white block of space. I still have an active AdSense account, none of my hubs are flagged that the ads are disabled, they are all set to "high". I completed the pin process...

While placing ads on hubs, such as Amazon and eBay, how many ads can we choose?I have seen many hubs having more than two ads, whereas when I choose I have options only upto 2, both for Amazon and eBay.

Today, via an email from staff, HP has revealed that"The revenue from the Related Searches ads is not shared"These groups of RSS style adense ads appear down the right side, and the bottom of all hubs, irrespective of whether the ad program is tuned off or on. They first appeared on hubs...

I read on another section of the forum about Google's policy against sites that 'sell and promote beer and hard alcohol' or something to that effect. I have a few Hubpages that are about alcoholic drinks, but I'm not sure what 'promoting' alcohol means. There are lots of sites in top Google...
