How to Set Goals for Squidoo

Updated on March 14, 2012

Squidoo Goal Setting

If you landed here, you are likely busy setting your goals for Squidoo. Setting Squidoo goals can happen at the first of a month, a quarter, a year, or on your birthday! Whatever plan makes you happy, that's the way to do them!

These are just my suggestions, but hopefully they will set your own ideas in motion! As always, enjoy your work and creativity at Squidoo. When it stops being fun, your readers will know. That's the time to take a break!

Wishing you every success in meeting all your Squidoo goals!

Squidoo Community Goals

How will you participate in the Squidoo Community this year? Is there a volunteer position just waiting for you?

You will want to set goals for visiting, too. How many lenses will you visit this year, ranking and commenting? if you visit just five lenses a day for a year (or 360 days allowing for a few missed days), you will visit 1800 lenses a year! Not only will you learn about a variety of subjects, but you will be exposed to different styles of creating lenses and get to know many of your fellow lensmasters.

How many lenses will you read next year?

What is your schedule for visiting Squidoo lenses?

Join a group of lensmasters to Increase your Learning Experience

Squidoo Communities

One of the most wonderful new things to happen among lensmasters is the creation of groups of lensmasters. Lensmasters gather for socialization and for learning from each other. Choose a group and join in! Note that some of the groups require that you apply for membership.

Creating Lenses

Squidoo Lens Creation Plan

How many new lenses do you want to create this year? 50? 100? 200? After you determine the number of lenses you want to create, simply divide that by the time available. For example, to make 50 lenses in one year, you only need to create one lens a week. Most people have time to create at least one lens a week. When you have 50 qualified lenses, you can apply for Giant Squid Status.

Or if you are a Giant Squid working on 100 lenses, just one lens a week for a year will accomplish that goal as well.

The Ever Present Goal of Making Money

Making Money on Squidoo

How much money would you like to make from your lenses this year? Again, break down the number to the months of the year. If you are making $10 a month now, can you double, triple, quadruple that amount next year? How on earth do people make money at Squidoo?

Study the most successful lensmasters. You will not see spammy lenses and you will learn the best way to present products and make sales.

New keyword search tool Jaaxy

Recently I have been experimenting with Jaaxy and so far, I am very pleased. Jaaxy is fast and with just a few searches, you will have a list of keywords ready to use. It's easy to understand. You can easily see if your chosen keyword has a green button. The green button tells you to "go" - that the key word is a good one to use.

What a coincidence that I found my way here today. I was just thinking of this very topic. It is so easy to lose your way. I think that I just found mine again. :)

I have never been very good at setting goals. I used to blame the fact that I had so many things to do and not enough time that I couldn't set goals but always vowed that I would change and do better. Now I know that it is true that people do not really change. Also, now that I am older, I blame AAADD (Aging Associated Attention Deficit Disorder) for my not setting goals. It is hard to set goals when you know that some "bright, new shiny thing" will come along and you would just have to set new goals all over again. But, dare I say, "I will try." I will FAVE this lens so that I will be reminded of your great ideas and as blue22d said, "your voice is going to haunt me!"

I haven't set any Squidoo goals for 2010 (where did January go?) I do think it's important to visit other lenses, and I think I can hit 10,000 rated lenses by the end of this year. Congratulations on your purple star!

I'm just formulating my goals right now, but my PLAN is to become a Giant Squid by the end of 2010... maybe even before! Mainly I want to learn and grow and become the best lensmaster I can be, not just for myself, but for the Squidoo community.

Great lens, Joan! I intend to expand on a few of the niche areas of my lenses. That's as close to a goal as I can achieve, in terms of lens creations, for the upcoming year - but I'm willing to bet I may surprise myself. :)

Congrats on that twinkling little purple star up there!

You didn't have an option for me on the duel lol...I think I'm pretty involved with Squidoo, enough to say it's not just a hobby lol, but I'm very anti-goal setting for myself. I know that setting goals helps a lot of people, but for me it just makes me lazy...If I give myself a deadline in the future, I won't actually do the work until the deadline...

I do better just acting on ideas & such right now...setting goals & making plans just gives me a reason not to do it now, then I get all stressed out & by the time the deadline arrives I don't really enjoy myself... So instead I just take it one day at a time & get the most out of everyday that I can...that way I only do the stuff I really need to do or enjoy & I don't stress out over the rest...I know I'm a weirdo lol!

Great lens! I know it will really help all the goal setters out there!

      Blessed by a Squid Angel!

This year, I'd like to get even more focused than the previous year on topics, and see how well that works for me. I've set some goals and I'd like to stick to them! Thanks for this great lens.
