Who is B Lemley?

Updated on September 19, 2014

Who is B Lemley?

Who is B Lemley? Well "B" is short for "Bev," and since I am short, that sort of fits!

Wanna"bee" photographer, Squidoo'er, beginning watercolor'er, bird watcher, wannabee singer/songwriter, daylily grower/hybridizer, enjoying my gardens, "A Touch of the Sun," pet owner of a dog and more than two cats, loves Carolina beaches and the Appalachian mountains, mom, grand dogs, waiting for grandchildren ~ (note to my children, I'm just kidding!) ~ and, oh yes, transcriptionist, could all be my key words if I didn't have to worry about SEO.

I have to add a few more key words to this list, just because without him, my world would be very different ~ and that is wife of a very special man. He has cerebral palsy, and to know him and to see how he overcomes obstacles not just every now and then, but 24/7, is something you can't help but be inspired by ~ and I have been for over 25 years now.

But at the top of my list, over everything in my life, is my love for God and the precious gift I receive from Him every day ~ my daily spiritual journey and faith walk, studying the Bible and scripture, learning how to live my life following God's will. He is my sole director and my soul protector!

My inspiration! - To the top!

Even with many physical limitations, my husband made the walk up the top of Mt. Mitchell, North Carolina, the tallest mountain in North Carolina. To the top was a steep walk from about a fourth of a mile from the top ~ while I was able to walk and look around, he had to watch every step. I am in awe of his undaunting spirit. The soaring mountains in the background serve as the mantra he lives.

I hope my work reflects this inspiration and love for all things beautiful and worthwhile in life.

A Few Things...

A few things that I enjoy ~

wouldn't you?!

Sunrise at the beach... - ...a beautiful wake up call!

Hi, Mom!

This is one of my daylily hybrids, the result of a couple of years of work and a LOT of my husband's help and encouragement. Since I don't watch TV and we're empty-nested, I have to have something to nurture! So hybridizing daylilies has become a very fulfilling part of who I am. When I saw this one blooming, I whipped out my cell phone, called my mom, said, "Hi, Mom, guess what's in the lily patch?!" I registered this one as 'Hi Mom,' fitting, don't you think?!

I love to watch the birds... - ...of course, being watched BY the birds is cool, too!

I love an enchanting garden! - Dancing flowers showing off nature's beauty ~ definitely enchanting!

A favorite treat! - Ice cream at...

Goodberry's Frozen Custard!

This is a favorite treat we both look forward to!

Who am I?!

I am daily inspired and encouraged by someone who is inspiring to everyone who knows him. My perspective comes from knowing and loving and being influenced by this special one in my life.

Chasing Bees...

...and Butterflies...

...and Anything Else Interesting in the Garden...

...and Leaving the Deer Alone... - ...when Possible!

And then there's back to reality! - Baily definitely defines who I am .. at 6:30 a.m.!

I'm a trouble-maker, too!

Yes, I have to watch everything I eat, making sure it doesn't contain gluten. What a hassle! But after years of trying to figure out what was wrong, my husband suggested going gluten free for one day. So we bought a few GF snacks and it only took the first snack, realizing my usual stomach ache didn't hit ~ hey! There just might be something to this gluten free stuff. You can read more of my journey at Gluten Free to Go.

@Redneck Lady Luck: I'm so glad you stopped by, A-Redneck! I'm glad to be able to show off a little about me and what a remarkable life I have ~ almost like a storybook! Good luck on going GF ~ it is a challenge, but one I had no choice over, for sure. As you go along, you will find you are more and more sensitive to it, and have no choice but to ask your friends and family to eat one for you. They happily oblige and you get to enjoy the pretend moment ~ plus, there's zero calories there, and the best part, no stomach issues and reactions to a bit of "pleasure"! Thanks so much, and I love that Squidoo has LOTs of GF recipes and advice ~ that is a bonus for us lensmasters! Thank you for stopping by! Good luck! B : )

I loved reading your story and your husband truly is a wonderful inspiration. It is very nice to meet both of you. I am also currently trying to go gluten free at the moment and I cannot believe how many products contain wheat. It is a search some days.
