15 Best Albert Einstein Quotes

Updated on October 11, 2014

Quotes in life that are a must read.

Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist. During his lifetime (1879–1955) he has contributed to physics in many ways. Special and general theories of relativity, founding of relativistic cosmology, the first Post-Newtonian expansion, explaining the perihelion advance of Mercury, prediction of the deflection of light by gravity and gravitational lensing, the first fluctuation dissipation theorem which explains the Brownian movement of molecules, the photon theory and wave-particle duality, and the quantum theory of atomic motion in solids.

Special relativity, and general relativity are Einsteins, well known theories. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics because of his services to Theoretical Physics, and his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.

Over his lifetime, Einstein, published a little more than 300 scientific and over 150 non-scientific works. He is known as "father of modern physics".

15 Einstein Quotes:

" The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources "

You can't tell everyone everything. Some things you just have to keep secret. If you are doing something that no one else is doing and it is working, then keep your secret. If you want to be creative don't allow your methods to be revealed.

" Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school "

The education system in the country is doing well. Most kids go to school and can only retain a certain amount of information. The rest is forgotten. Whatever is left over is your knowledge. My question is, how do you know that what you know is correct? Most learning is just passed down from person to person. So how do we know that the original person was correct.

" Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler "

Simplicity is what the average human needs. Everyday websites and the world around us is becoming simpler. I think what Albert Einstein is saying, is that, we want things to be as simple as possible but not too simple. If things are too simple we will become lazy and forget how we even got to the point we have reached.

" Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe. "

This is really funny. Humans truly are stupid. It was Plato who said, "Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance." For the most part, all humans have is opinions. There are only a few things that are facts, but there are way more opinions. As for the universe, all we know is what we see. It could be infinite, but who are we to say.

" The hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax "

The income tax is morally wrong. You are taking someones hard earned money away from them. If you would like to help the economy, you must take away the income tax and let people keep all of their money. There are so many other taxes to make up for anything that government needs to worry themselves with. The income tax is the worst type of tax. It wasn't intended for our country to have any direct tax. We need to repeal the income tax that was passed in 1913, along with The Federal Reserve system.

Albert Einstein Quotes

" The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears, for there's no risk of accident for someone who's dead "

Once your dead the fear is gone. While you're alive, you understand you can die. Even though the earth is painful most of the time, there are many points of joy. This is what we want to live for, the moments we enjoy. Who knows what lies beyond death, a white kingdom, a fire bound hell, or just the dirt in the ground. I guess that is the only thing to look forward for when dying, finding out the truth.

" Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing "

I think he Einstein could be referring to stealing? or maybe he is referring to overcharging for an item? .. It is hard to say but if it is about stealing, the guilt is a lot heavier then the gain.

" Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding "

This is what leaders throughout history could never understand. Force does not work, take for instance Iraq, for every innocent person we kill another one joins with terrorists. The truth is we are the terrorists for causing so much harm. We can only create peace by leaving a good example and not starting wars. Peter Parker's Uncle one said, "With great power comes great responsibility."

" The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing "

Always question everything. Even government statements. You would be surprised how many lies are around us. Without questioning we would never learn. If we ask the wrong questions, we at least learn from our mistakes.

" Equations are more important to me, because politics is for the present, but an equation is something for eternity "

An equation will always have the same answer, but in politics you can hear an array of different answers, or the same answer put different ways.

" Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character "

You must always remain confident in your life. Don't falter and you will become prosperous in life. If you walk with confidence you can achieve anything.

" The only real valuable thing is intuition "

You have to stick with your heart and live your life from what you believe. Don't ever let anyone stop you from being who you are. Follow your heart.

" One of the strongest motives that lead men to art and science is escape from everyday life with it's painful crudity and hopeless dreariness "

When learning about interesting things such as art or science, it puts ones imagination at work. It is an escape from everyday life, and puts you on a different world. This works for movies or motion pictures for you old timers.

" A person starts to live when he can live outside himself "

Just get over yourself. Don't be stuck in your body or your box. Let lose and don't be self conscience.

" Imagination is more important than knowledge "

Without an imagination you can't be creative. To be an inventor you must be creative and think of the unimaginable. Knowledge is good but it is not everything. Your imagination might know something your knowledge doesn't. Always be thinking and asking questions.

This is probably the most horrendously interpreted meanings of Einstein's quotes I have ever read before...

An equation does not have 'the same answer', the = sign means 'equal', not 'find the answer'. Therefore, 2 + 2 does not always equal 4, it could be just as equally vialbe to state 2 + 2 = 3 + 1... The other quotes are totally politically biased and charged, Einstein would have a field day with these interpretations...

"Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing"

I agree with OldMacUser in that I think Einstein is referring to times where people pay lots of money for things that they could otherwise attain for free i.e. losing weight, getting in shape, or gaining an education except for when you want a job that requires a certificate (lawyer, doctor, engineer, teacher, etc.).

I also think that Einstein is simultaneously referring to situations where people attempt to buy happiness with material items. food, alcohol, or drugs, which take their toll over time when people could otherwise find happiness within themselves for free.

" Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing "

I think Einstein is referring to situations similar to many college students whose parents pay for their education and the students don't apply themselves and pay for it the rest of their lives.

" Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler "

This is actually a witty rephrasing of Occam's Razor, not a comment on how to live.
