We Have A New Mind To Guide Us In Our Crazy World

Updated on October 25, 2010

The mind is like a parachute...

your life depends on it.
your life depends on it.

We Have It Just When We Need It Most

Our mind is all important. Is there anything that happens in our human life on this earth that does not directly involve our mind? Is there anything at all we can accomplish that does not require the direct use of our mind? Unfortunately, we can actually operate in our mundane, everyday life without using very much of it, certainly nowhere near it's real ability. And, so, in spite of what appears to be our great technological and scientific strides over the past two thousand years, we have been gradually using less and less of our mind, our whole mind.

The fact is, and please don't take my word for it, our mind has been accidentally programmed over the last two thousand years or more, by the increasing influence of science and technology, to focus on and almost glorify our thinking, analytical mind to the virtual exclusion of our creative, intuitive mind. This has conditioned us to believe that our thinking mind alone can solve all of our problems, when it cannot. The most troubling ramification of this mistake is that most of us keep trying to solve our personal and interpersonal problems with the part of our mind that does not have that ability. This, in turn, stimulates fear, frustration and more thought that generates more fear, frustration, and more thought, until we are overwhelmed by the fear and frustration that is the by-product of our faulty thinking.

Albert Einstein, one of our greatest scientists who uncovered many of the secrets of the universe, said that he never made a discovery with this thinking brain alone. Imagination, he said, is more important than knowledge, because knowledge is only limited to what we already know, whereas imagination contains all the knowledge that will ever be. Focusing primarily on our thinking brain has caused a devastating problem. Our minds are full of the twelve lanes of rush-hour traffic of thoughts in our heads that is literally killing us by producing stress-related diseases. At the same time, this overproduction of thought is blocking the solutions we desperately need that are streaming to us all the time from the creative and intuitive ability of our mind. If you don't believe this, just trying sitting quietly in a chair, without any external distractions, and watch what's going on in your head for ten minutes. Chances are you won't be able to make it through the ten minutes, because you will be quickly overwhelmed by the tension and worry your thoughts produce. If you do, you will be absolutely amazed at the volume of thoughts in your head, the vast majority of which are unnecessary.

Yes, there is a wonderful solution, and it's in the very mind that has been handicapped. Under all of this unnecessary thought, producing all of this fear and stress, there is another mind, a new mind, that has been developing. It's there, fully ready to give us answers to any and every problem we will ever encounter in both our personal and collective lives. There have been times in your life, I'm sure, when you've had those “ah ha!” moments that come out of the blue and you “see” very clearly a solution you've been looking for. That was your new mind, seeing an opening in all that mind chatter, and sending through that sought-after solution, or the location of those long-lost set of keys. Another example of this new mind is the wise admonition to “sleep on it.” Often, in the morning, the answer we've been trying to find all the previous day, just pops up in our head. Now, by accessing and using our new mind we can have these answers and solutions anytime we want them.

I will be writing other articles with more detail about how this has happened to us and how we can specifically use the power of our new mind to greatly improve our lives and our world. In the mean time, if you want to prepare your mind to be ready to receive the creative thoughts that are streaming to you all the time from your creative mind and intuitive mind, feel free to use the simple technique I call alpha training. It can establish in your mind a permanent inner calm that can eliminate the mind chatter that causes the fear and damaging stress that plagues us today.

We have within us, a mind more powerful than we can imagine, but it is handicapped by the imbalance that has developed over time. If you want to begin to catch a glimpse of this power, I suggest you watch what happens when you make a cloud disappear. Thirty years ago, I first saw the results of this amazing power when, as her therapist, I helped Nancy heal herself of terminal cancer by finding within her more evidence of a new mind that guided us to cure her illness and heal my life as well. I wish you many blessings as you undertake the exciting inner journey to a new mind and a whole new life.
