Advantages and Benefits of Learning Language

Updated on October 22, 2023

Importance of Learning Language

Today, knowledge of languages is one of the greatest advantages in present time, it makes possible to communicate with foreigners feel at ease in a foreign country during a trip or a business trip. But many forget that the knowledge of the language also provides a unique opportunity to watch movies, read books in their original language.

Especially significant is the advantage of reading the poetry and prose in the language of the author. After all, if the film includes several channels of information (visual and audio), the book consists entirely of only the printed text, so that its meaning depends on the language in which it is written. Despite the fact that modern translators are trying to comply fully with the author's writing style and features, however, the foreign reader sees is not a unique work of art, and text translation that conveys the meaning of written material.

Today, you can often find cases where one and the same book in different translations can be completely different. After all the charm and individuality of many literary works is not to sing the story and smartly twisted straps and a unique syllable of the author, his jokes, phrases, features of construction proposals. Therefore, to truly understand and appreciate the text can be only one who reads it in its original language, without the intervention of the translator and editor.

This is especially true of Eastern Literature - translate characters can be any translator who specializes in a specific language, but just to convey the meaning. After all, the same character can have multiple meanings and even the most high-quality Japanese-Russian translation cannot convey what the author wanted to say, for the reason that the translator does not have the thoughts of the author, his world view, life experience and other characteristics that affect the writing a literary work.

Of particular importance is the ability to read the original language of poetry. Indeed, to hear the euphony of rhyme, the style and rhythm of poetic lines can be used only if they are read in the original written form. When translating poetry, the translator should make the rhyming text has not been set so clumsy words and rhyme for the sake of euphony, and reworks the text at its sole discretion. And call the Shakespearean sonnet work of art, reading it in Russian, it is impossible. One can only say that the reader is acquainted with his poetry and knows which topics the author wrote that he cared. In this case, the understanding of the text refers only to a partial term of its content, not form.

Reading books in their original language - it's a real gift, the ability to get in touch with the soul of the author, his style, and personality. Many people understand this, but, nevertheless, there are cases when schools in many countries to study the translation of a work program, even when there is no need. So it is very helpful to learn foreign languages, and learning deferent languages gives us lots of benefits.
