With the onset of Internet technology it brought so much ease to the present generation. For those who don’t have the capability to attend formal school, the introduction of online education helped many people to improve themselves. There are so much things we can do now at the convenience of your home or wherever you are. Getting an online education is the trend nowadays too.
Online education has been proven to be good and it is best for those who have physical disabilities, busy working people, soldiers which are away from their country or home, and stay at home mom, and for those who have endless thirst for knowledge but don’t have the capability to attend formal school. To put it “There is fundamentally little difference between physically sitting in an auditorium listening to lectures versus watching a webcasted video of the professor“.
It had been proven too that for those employers who has employees who have online education performs well at work.
The wikipedia defines “online degrees” as college degrees (sometimes including high school diplomas and non-degree certificate programs) that can be earned primarily or entirely through the use of an Internet-connected computer, rather than attending college in a traditional campus setting. Improvements in technology and the increasing use of the Internet worldwide have led to a proliferation of online that award associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Advantages of getting an online education
- Convenience : Now in the world in which we live in, we become very busy and as if we don’t have enough time to do everything we need to do. It is really an advantage if you can still learn in the middle of the night, when you wake up or after office hours when you are working. Sometimes we have our peak hours and if we are enrolled in an online education you can study whatever time is the most convenient for you. It doesn’t get in the way of your other schedule too because it is you who will decide on the time you are going to learn.
- You have the option to work while studying and do other worthwhile activities.. It expands your time because you can actually study even in the wee hours. It gives you option to do other major things in life.
- Sometimes you are not in the mood to learn and this is normal, and attendance in a formal schooling will not get you in the way.
- You have the option to choose which physical environment you are in when you study. It has been proven that whole studying sometimes you need music or some other media to make you more inspired to learn.
- You enjoy the nearness of your loved ones all the time without having a hectic schedule. You can still be with your children if you are stay at home mom.
- Online education instills discipline among its students. It has been known that in order for you to succeed getting a degree online you need to have discipline.
- In terms of financial aid the US government, students can avail of it now, unlike before 2006. I don’t have data about this in other countries.
One point to ponder here is that: is the interaction among other same students; will it affect learning or not? In terms of sharing and input of some other students, does this help the students. Does the overall advantage outweighs the negative effect?
