Advice for Finding Affordable Diamond Engagement Rings

Updated on July 13, 2011

BEST Affordable Engagement Ring Advice

If you're looking for an engagement ring, you know how important it is to your partner that you find one of good quality. You've probably been to a few mall shops like Jared, Tiffany, and Cartier, if you've done much shopping at all. If you’re really smart you might have even looked at a few smaller jewelry stores to see what they have. If you're anything short of a millionaire, your search for the perfect engagement ring has probably left your heart sad and your wallet burning. Is there any way to find affordable diamond engagement rings?!

The answer to your question is, yes! You can find a seriously GOOD affordable diamond engagement ring. You're probably wondering, "Where in the heck do you think I can get something like Tiffany quality for anything less than five grand?" Well, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Tiffany, Cartier and some of the other huge name brands, don't necessarily have higher quality diamonds than their competitors. Tiffany claims to have a higher standard for their diamonds, but the fact is that you can get the same quality diamond from a store like Jared's for thousands cheaper. Jared isn't even the cheapest place you can get a diamond either. Although Tiffany has its own setting, and the Tiffany settings are very nice. You can find good Tiffany imitations out there that won't cost you an arm and a leg. Why is Tiffany so expensive then? Well, it's their brand. Tiffany can do a huge markup on all their products, just because their name is "Tiffany." People trust the name and people want to be able to tell others that they got their ring from a Tiffany’s.

The fact is men (or women who might be advising their man), you can get a better quality diamond and setting for a WAY lower price if you just ignore the brand name and look at the actual quality of the diamond. If you're looking for an affordable diamond engagement ring, you should probably check out some smaller jewelers that aren't in a mall. Do some searching on-line, there are several good websites dedicated to helping you find a high quality diamond engagement ring at the lowest price. So don't take the easy way out. Do your research! It will pay off.
