Back Over My Shoulder?

Updated on December 10, 2009

Well my dear friends, here we are about to venture into a New Year and what it brings us will be the big question?

This might sound silly but I for one dread most of all the last week before the new year. For have you ever noticed that the media will spend many hours on re-telling us what all the negative things that happened for the year---duh!  Do they think we were not here and maybe on some other planet?

This only made me think about what events took place before I arrived in this time period.  We somehow forget about early events and people.  Oh yes, there were negative things happening then too but I will attempt to just bring some of the more pleasant events that i personally would have liked to have seen or been a part of.

Year 1910
Year 1910

Halley's Comet made its appearance.  Everyone was caught up in dancing the tango.

Roaring 20.s
Roaring 20.s

Women could vote.

Prohibition was in but the speakeasy's    did a brisk business.

The Charleston dance had become popular

Talking movies were invented.

Year 1924
Year 1924

First Olympic Winter Games.

Babe Ruth makes home-run record

First Mickey Mouse Cartoon.

Yes my friends, sometimes we just need to glance back over our shoulder and linger on some of those slower times and maybe learn from our past.

P.S   I do have a piece of that past---my MICKEY MOUSE watch and it is still ticking!

Ginn, I think I'll take a moment to reflect and look over my shoulder too.

Maybe someday they will put that button on our keyboards that will "beam us up". Where would you go if they could?
