The night sky is dark with the Capricorn New Moon as we gaze upon a new beginning, leaving behind all that we have outgrown. Give your attention and intention to reflection, as the dark side of the Moon graces our presence with a configuration of five planets, south node and partial solar eclipse all in the sign of Capricorn. You may ask, what does this mean for us on planet earth? It’s time to reset your time clock, viewing all that has come to pass, with moving forward. That doesn’t mean to say that stark realism accompanied by responsibility have left the building, oh no, this is a time to rebuild yourself, constructing strong new foundations for steady structures to thrive in success, be it any area of life. Capricorn is a steadfast earth sign that is diligent, hard-working and committed to achieving success with goals its sets for itself, which is perfect for the beginning of a new year… It is intently focused on the task at hand with little room for failure, however it’s within those failures of life that teach us our greatest lessons.

The stellium of planets configured in Capricorn consists of the Sun and Moon coupled together with Pluto, Saturn and Mercury-who is in a wide orb, however making his presence felt. These powerful celestial bodies in Capricorn encourage seriously looking at the way you use your time and how you apply that time towards daily routines (Mercury’s wide orb). Are you in love with life? And what you do on a daily basis? Capricorn occupies the tenth house on the zodiac, which is referred to as the midheaven, governing your public status, career and/or divine life mission. This point signifies leadership, and what your striving towards… Destiny is calling (north and south nodes in Capricorn/Cancer), along with shifts and changes paving the way on how, what, and where strategic planning and structures are implemented surrounding earning a living and living a life that is satisfying and fulfilling to you- giving mention to its spiritual aspects. Outdated belief systems will be diminished as old structures are literally torn down (Pluto) and rebuilt on solid new foundations with (Saturn).

Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn are major players over the coming years, they teach through important lessons and transformation. Saturn is at home in Capricorn as he is the ruling planet-making him very strong at the time of the New Moon eclipse.

Saturn is the master commander of one’s destiny through lessons and karma throughout a lifetime. He examines and tests everything he touches, therefore creating delays when cracks appear in the foundations of life in order for you to realign with honesty and integrity. The placement of healthy boundaries is instilled through Saturn and If you disregard his teaching, he doesn’t caution lightly… if you heed and grow with the set-backs and failures, you successfully build structures that are long-lasting with significantly long-term wealth. He is strict, will hold you accountable, and is an authoritarian who often earns a bad rap for his realism, raw ethics and serious demeanour, however, he is very generous.

The other transits important to this Capricorn New Moon eclipse are Neptune in Pisces sextile (harmonious) to the New Moon. Dream big with this aspect and Neptune (ruler of Pisces), if you can dream it, you can achieve it… The spiritual aspects between earth and water, Capricorn and Pisces are blind faith, and following the path of creative pursuits and talents, especially with regards to a potentially new career. The Capricorn goat climbs to the top of the mountain nimbly, alert and with precision. The Pisces fish is one of connection through spiritual practices such as prayer and meditation. Cardinal (Capricorn) and mutable (Pisces) come together in fluidity and adaptability. Now is the season of change and movement, however, the movement is partnered with spiritual vigilance and strategically focused intention and slow progression of those intentions. Unlike fire and air, earth and water are grounded, slow paced energies- if you rush the process, you may find yourself missing important details (Saturn) which leads to delays and feelings of frustration. Speaking of air, at the time of the eclipse no air is present. Communications will be channelled through goal-orientated planning (dream board or journaling), and your thoughts will be processing with practicality (Mercury in Capricorn). You have an opportunity to reset time with Saturn the time-keeper, enabling you to rewrite your story. Mars in Aries forms a wide orbed square (challenging) aspect to the Capricorn New Moon. Mars resides in a position of strength as he is the ruling planet of Aries-his input to the New Moon, is ignition through enthusiasm. Be assertive, taking necessary action steps towards your goals, desires and passions steadily. If you are unsure at this stage what those desires and passions entail, no need for concern, you will find your way, it’s all divinely timed and works together in sync with the awareness of the heavenly bodies. Earth and water promote a much more serene and peaceful energy, when you take the time to work with its rhythm.

Eclipses always herald significant life changes, with beginnings and endings. This partial eclipse in Capricorn is the first in the series of Capricorn/Cancer which will last for roughly eighteen months to two years and sometimes longer depending on personal astrology. Not only will you be contemplating your career/mission move this Capricorn New Moon, you will also be modestly looking at your home, family, security and how you care/nurture for yourself and others (Cancer). Our home planet will also ride the transformational changes with the upcoming planetary shifts.

If you are thinking, “ I am not Capricorn, so it won’t affect me!” Capricorn occupies a life area somewhere on everyone’s chart, therefore wherever 15 degrees of Capricorn is in your natal chart, is the life area that will be most prominent and transformational for you over the next couple of years. For more information on a personal level, I highly recommend consulting an astrologer, otherwise, enjoy building new beginnings with the stamina, strength and focus of the Capricorn New Moon Solar Eclipse January 5th-6th.
