Destinations - thoughts, emotions and desires

Updated on January 30, 2012

My reflections on thoughts emotions and desires

All things need to have a destination. Destination does not mean the end, it could mean beginnings. Destination do not essentially have to be the beginning or the end, but could be a half way stop, just a breather, a refresher perhaps in the midst of a journey. Destinations always bring with them some sense of security and a feeling of belonging. Thoughts, emotions and desires too have destinations. Destinations cannot be vague, they need to be specific unless you are just a rolling stone meandering through life. A vague destination often lands you in obscure, nondescript places, which you may or may not have envisioned as your journey’s purpose. Destinations need to be sought after, detailed plans worked out and followed through until they become your landing strips. Your thoughts, emotions and desires too need a defined destination.

Thoughts, emotions and desires as directed by the soul

The soul has a way of working out thoughts, emotions and desires to take you to a landing strip. Rationale would often talk about the impossibility of such a happening. The greatest enemy of the soul is rational, even though it is the source of knowledge. The mind is only willing to accept what it sees touches and understands. The mind brings up a hundred reason why you should not depend on your gut feeling or instinct and yet the greatest of business men plan their business venture on their gut feeling supported by facts and figures to an extent.

The word 'serendipity' has been on my mind for a little over ten days now. I would think that the soul connections or soul destinations are serendipity. The unexpected happens and takes the wind out of your lungs in a moment of sheer magic and amazement. I was feeling kind of low for the last couple of days, on Sunday morning as we drove to the church I saw some beautiful flowers on display at the florist. I wished to have them, but as we were late I could not stop to pick them up. I had forgotten all about them during the day, my Sunday’s are always a circus, me being the bear who dances to the tunes of my kids and my husband. As I finally put my foot up to relax with some soul music, I mean closing my eyes and listening to bird calls and the rustling of leaves in the wind, my friend walked in, with the same bunch of flowers. I hadn't seen her in a few months. I had been thinking about her a lot lately and what a double delight it was to see her and feel her arms around me, as she hugged me and gave me those flowers. The fact that they flowers came with her made them doubly special.

Emotions are often attached to people, objects, pets, and to the things people do, making them destinations of our emotional attachments. Emotions have the power to draw and sway another as you destine. Emotions of love and joy always flow like a gentle gale, making melody making music and spreading the pure fragrance of good feelings. While jealousy, anger, greed , frustration etc are like whirlwinds that blow and rake up the dust, their neither know their destinations nor do the have a focus. They strike here and there, like a fit of madness causing those things of the past to fly up and be thrown about, leaving the place a state of complete disarray.

Thoughts that have destinations, make things happen. Positive thoughts, could be thoughts that forcefully bring to a happy denouement to the things that been brewing for sometime, serendipity! Thoughts of life and thoughts of peace surrounding a person or a circumstance fill the thought destination with some solace and serenity. Thoughts of past that are filled with pleasant memories seem to make you mellow, satisfied and content with life.

Desire on the other hand seems to draw with magnetic force those things that you wish for. It seems as if they turn heads and get that look that you long for, I would think even without the other persons knowledge. Desire is the animal force of thought that could be added to a positive outlook to achieved the desired effect. That deep longing or yearning that makes you dream about the object of your desire, giving the desire a life and filling it with action in your imagination is what is often described as the technique of visualization. I wonder if someone has used this technique to get what they want. My friend had a car which she shared with her husband, or let us say he drove around in it all day long and she just got to use it when he did not want to go pick the kids from their classes or did not want to go some place. It was then she decide to use the power of visualization. She got herself the picture of the car she wanted and put it up on her clinic wall and looked at it with deep desire all day long. The results were stunning, she had her car within six months as a gift from her husband who had for years refused to buy another car. Now she drives around proudly in that car.

Serendipity? I am not sure about it, but I do think that the soul draws to itself certain connections no matter where you live or exist in this universe. I have met people I so relate to, who live half way across the globe and Is that serendipity? My friend was upset about something and I just felt the urge to make that overseas call a few days ago. She did not respond to my repeated hellos, I was wondering if there was a problem with the call and told her I will call back again, “No! she yelled, "I am too stunned to talk, I was just thinking about you", she said on a tearful note. Destination of thought, emotions and desire!

They are powerful indeed!
