Dreams and Revelation

Updated on July 13, 2009

A Dream, A Revelation...

As I was dreaming earlier this week my mind was occupied by St. Teresa's thoughts/writings about the three criteria for "interior matters" (i.e. contemplation). I slept so deeply (I usually do now) and I did not snore; well, for that matter I never snore; right Kate? I cannot hear what you are saying, Kate, my love!

When I awoke it was perfectly clear yet really not that sensational. It was clearly simple; although I cannot take credit for this thesis/wisdom...

Our battle is with selfishness on all/many levels (personal, community, country, global...). Perhaps we should focus on teaching our children about how critical this is, and how destructive attachment/selfishness is. Perhaps then we could reverse our destructive course. I know this is no exceptional revelation; however, its importance should not be underestimated/trivialized. Is there a link here to the demise of so many; perhaps, Mariyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson...Please be advised, in no way am I suggesting that these icons were selfish; it is not that simple...They may perhaps be the victims or it is a combination...What say you?

Now...if you could only wake up from a dream and have an easy cure for this bit of human would really have something there worth sharing with the world. There seem to be few St. Teresa's in this world being emulated as compared to the icons you mentioned. And if they are out there...they are doing things quietly and without such fanfare.

Voted interesting. As to the snoring...Kate knows! Ha!
