30 conversation questions about travelling. This activity is suitable for pair work, group work or mingling. Adults and teenagers really enjoy this activity.

If the class is very lethargic, I use this activity as a questionnaire and get the students to move about collecting the data. It always works!

  1. What country would you most like to visit?

  2. What do you know about that country?

  3. What would you most like to see in that country?

  4. Name 10 items you would take with you?

  5. If you could send a friend to any country in the world, where would you send him/her?

  6. Think of someone you don't particularly like. What kind of holiday would you send her/him on?

  7. You have a choice to buy health insurance or to spend another month backpacking, what would you do and why?

  8. Would you try the local cuisine even if you found it disgusting?

  9. In the tourist areas of some poor countries there are many tourist scams. What would you do to try to prevent any of these from occurring?

  10. What would you do if your money was robbed and your passport was stolen?

  11. What would scare you the most about travel?

  12. What thing would interest you the most about travelling?

  13. Would you be prepared to travel alone or with friends?

  14. Which kind of holiday would you prefer – somewhere cold and icy or somewhere hot and dry? Why?
