Expansion of the Universe
The Quran about the expansion of the universe and the Big Bang theory
Do you think the size of the universe is fixed? What about the age of the universe? Has it been around forever or it had a start at some point in the time?
Well, in 1929, Edwin Hubble made a discovery which showed that the universe is continuously expanding by observing "Redshift" in the wavelength of light emitted by distant objects.
But you'll be amazed to know that the same fact was described in the Quran which was revealed 1400 years ago. This is incredible, isn't it? How could a book tell this fact at the time when there was no science, no telescopes etc? Here's what Quran says:
"And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are (its) expander." (Quran 51:47)
Can we conclude that this book might have been the words of someone who is the creator of the universe, only then the one could tell this reality without any instrument?
Once it was discovered that the universe had happened to be expanding in nature, it was concluded that universe must have been started from a single point - the Big Bang Theory.
Now again the same concept was given by the Quran as mentioned:
"Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joint entity, then we separated them, and made from water every living thing? then will they not believe?" (Quran 21:30)
Now it is up to you to conclude what do these verses point to and how is it possible for a man (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) who existed 1400 years to tell such facts without the help of someone who must be all-knowing?
Think justly!
