Good research practices: Best ways of research in science

Updated on November 26, 2011

What is research

Research in science and technology was responsible for the materialistic luxuries we enjoy today. But the fun is that most life changing discoveries were by serendipity i.e they were discovered unexpectedly or purely by chance, more over they required less research work, less money (funds) and less time to do so.

Research is a progressive study and exploration of new avenues of knowledge and concepts and possibilities in science. technology and arts through use of existing knowledge concepts and tools on the subject for social benefit.

Ideas for successful research

What is successful research?

A research which benefits the society to an immediate effect, better way.

A research which can help produce papers and patents for the scientist or fellow.

Or a research which answers questions of quite long standing.

A discovery which can improve the present condition, knowledge, technique.

A research which can decrease pollution, enhance natural climate,

Remember research is not a place to make money, so be clear about this :-).

Research in every case doesn't require a research oriented job, as you must have heard about Einstein the great scientist who was a clerk but still able to observe science as a fantasy.

So into whatever field of research you are into, with this in mind you can make a better research.

Ways for good research

Have the topic of research into current trends, requirements, interest in scientific community.

The topic of research should be simple, focused on an issue.

The ways to address should be preferably inexpensive i.e methods and techniques used.

Should have less harm on the environment, animals used and also on the lab personnel working with.

If you are working on vertebrate animals then you must have suitable animal ethical clearance and also follow animal care guide lines as issued by regulatory bodies of you country.

Always remember to acknowledge in the research papers, by including those names of people who helped in your research in some significant way say it monetarily or by technical or other helps for successful progress of your research.
