I Love You and the many ways to say it
How do you say ’I Love You’?
These are the sweetest words that you could say if you adore someone. If you care for somebody, you would always say these words or endearment. I had two failed relationships, but when I said these words to those women, the meaning didn’t reached the core of my heart. Maybe, we’re not meant for each other.
"How do I Love thee?" It's fathomless, I may answer, if I'll love someone in the future. Even the greatest English playwright William Shakespeare made the most popular plays, like Romeo and Juliet to explain the labyrinth of this thing called love. It can be sweet, bitter or sometimes a tragedy.
I remember the three kinds of intonation when uttering the words “I Love You.” Our English teacher let us recite it one by one and interpret our way of saying it. If the stress falls on “I”, it means you love yourself more than others. If you put the stress on “You” it will mean your love is only superficial. If the stress is on “Love”, it means you put respect to the man or woman you adore.
Love 101
As I studied in college, my religious teacher taught us the kinds of love.
- Erros love is more physical attraction than the emotional one.
- Filial love is about friendship and the sacrifice you could offer when someone is in need.
- Agape love is the highest form, as in faith in God; we believe because we feel secured in His presence.
Love as the Greatest Gift
The world will always be in chaos if love is not around. Make love, not war is somewhat overrated but it makes sense if we want world peace. As the Holy Bible passage further clarifies: “For God so loved the world that He gave His Begotten Son …”(John 3:16) to save us from sins.
Love your neighbor
As one of the Ten Commandments from God, being good to our neighbor is fine, but to love your neighbor even he/she is your enemy is hard to follow. How can you be nice if you despise him/her every time you see him/her? But if you believe in God, all things are possible, even showing love to your most hated neighbor.
Love in many languages
Even God punished our ancestors because of disobedience, His love is boundless that he promised to give us a second chance to be with Him in heaven. Even if He permitted the punishment of so-called 'language confusion' we can still say "I Love You"in languages we're familiar.
Yo Ti amo in Spanish; Wo Ai Ni in Chinese; Mahal Kita or Iniibig kita in Filipino...every people in the whole world have a language to cherish these sweetest words.
You can say “I love you” in a song, through cards, through text messages, through chocolate and flowers, sign language and in any possible ways. Just say it with all your heart.
