Part 1-Ielts Speaking Topic: Colors

IELTS(International English Language Testing System) is the world's leading test of English for higher education, immigration and employment. Below are some sample questions and answers for this topic.

1. What’s your favorite color?

-Definitely red. I guess the reason is because it symbolizes hope and passion and I’m a person full of hope and passion.

-It absolutely has to be black. It has always been the most popular color and I’m very keen on this color because black clothes go well with any occasion.

2. Are there any colors that have a special meaning in your country?

-Red is the color of happiness which is why Chinese people give red pockets with money to people during festivals, birthdays and weddings.

-Gold used to be the color representing royalty. Now people just wear gold jewelry to show off’ their wealth.

3. Are there any colors you dislike?

-I’m not a huge fan of brown. I think the color is ugly and I don't look good wearing brown clothes.

-I’m really not keen on pink. A man like me would look very stupid wearing pink clothes on the street.

4. Do you prefer light or dark colors?

-Probably dark colors since I have been fond of the colors blue and black since I was a child. Also most people wear dark clothes and I am one of them. Wearing dark clothes allow me to mix with a crowd.

-I guess light colors since I am I bright and cheerful person. Also light colors reflect heat so I would be relatively cooler during the summer.
