Patience truly is a virtue and Hurry is an enemy to Patience!
Scriptures are like puzzle pieces, it take more than just a few to create the Whole Picture!
“What do YOU believe?”
Following my most recent 21 day renewal process that I told you about in my last article, the Holy Spirit asked me a question that at first caught me by surprise. I was probably as surprised as the Apostle Peter was when Jesus asked him the same basic question. I heard the Spirit ask; “What do YOU believe?”
My first response: “I believe The Word.” And much like a parent with a child, when the given response is not exactly what the parent was looking for, I felt like the Holy Spirit wanted me to expound further.
My next response: “I believe Jesus is Lord and Christ, the living Son of God!” Again, it was as if I hadn’t fully answered the Holy Spirit’s question, and was beginning to run down everything in The Word, searching for what I thought would be the “Correct” answer.
While everything I responded with was technically correct according to The Word of God, I felt the Holy Spirit was still digging for something “deeper”. Past experience has taught me, when you feel the Holy Spirit is wanting you to dig “deeper” means there is a “Growth Spurt” coming to your soul, leading to a sort of “Deeper Truth” to what you believe. Hence, the purpose for this article: “What do YOU believe?”
Hunger for Truth is a LESSON in Patience:
Sometimes you might feel like a little kid asking a million questions of your parent when you are in relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. And like that little kid, I was running amuck firing off responses in all different directions and connections… But then, I heard; “You have run ahead again with your responses, slow down, Now back to my original question… What do YOU believe?”
Just like Jesus had to tell his disciples in John chapter 16:7-15, He had much more to share with them but they couldn’t understand it at the moment, but the Holy Spirit would guide them after he left them. We will have the same desires that the disciples from the bible had of wanting to know more and more. However, sometimes we aren’t ready for the answers yet, to which led the Holy Spirit to tell me “Get back to the original question, which is What Do You Believe?
One question at a time is more than enough to mediate on at a time. Remember, you are learning from the Lord of ALL CREATION, and HE alone knows what we can handle, and when we are able to handle the Truth that He will reveal; layer upon layer, slowly adding more and more depth to the Truth that has already been revealed through His Word and The Holy Spirit.
- First lesson you need to learn and remember when being led by the Spirit; its One step at a time, no running up and down through the scriptures like a kid on a Scavenger Hunt, you might trip and fall.
Never Give up on Learning, There are many pieces to your life's story!
Patience truly is a virtue and Hurry is an enemy to Patience!
Once I regained my composure, and found that Peaceful Presence once again where the Holy Spirit resides, I was able to get back to His original question; “What do YOU believe?”
When the Holy Spirit asks a question, it’s not that He wants to know what you believe;
- He wants YOU to KNOW what you believe.
