Responsibilities and Duties of a Nurse in a Clinical Setting
Nurses play a very crucial role within the clinical settings in fostering healthcare provision. For instance, they collaborate, and coordinate with various healthcare practitioners in delivery of healthcare services as well as meeting the needs of various patients. They are also under the direction of the health practitioners required to administer personalized interventions, medications, dress wounds and other procedures. Other roles entail interpreting information for patients alongside making essential decisions regarding the required actions. Additionally, nurses are required to undertake health histories and physical examinations of the various patients presented to them. Furthermore, they offer counseling services, promotion and healthcare education to patients and the community. Moreover, nurses do supervise, and direct healthcare as required by other healthcare personnel such as doctors and LPNs. What is more, nurses also undertake research for the purpose of improving patient outcomes and general nursing practice (American Nurses Association, 2016).
