Ajit Choubey is interested in the field of law and likes to write about law related topic specially in the field of legal education.

If you are thinking that can you Pass your law college entrance exams with ease and with success then this article has an answer for you.

A degree in law has always been a popular choice among students as it provides a huge scope in terms of career and respect in society. Today, legal studies provide you with the option to specialize in your favourite stream of law — be it civil laws, corporate management laws, legal services, criminal laws, company laws, and administrative services, or any other.

However, the preparation for the entrance exam of a reputed law college demands a lot of focus for preparation along with determination and perseverance.

Experts advise law aspirants to begin their preparation for the entrance examination at the 11th hour as it is unlikely to give you good results. Hard work and disciplined outlook in regular routine are the pre-requisite for cracking the paper.

But there is no reason to fear the exams as preparing for the law entrance exam is no rocket science. The syllabus may look humongous while beginning preparation for the exam but if a student chalks out a proper schedule to cover the crucial topics without procrastinating studies to the last minute, it is not at all difficult to get to the college of your choice.

Here are some guidelines following which you can prepare to succeed in the law entrance exams and that too, hassle-free as follows.

Know the subjects

The four basic subjects from which questions are usually asked in law entrance exams are — general English, mathematical reasoning (or data interpretation), legal aptitude, and general knowledge (or current affairs). To grab a seat in your favourite law college, you must master these subjects.

Diving into details — for English preparation, an aspirant must improve vocabulary and practice comprehension. Similarly for performing well in the mathematical reasoning part, one must practice solving elementary mathematical problems. As for legal aptitude, the candidate must have profound subject knowledge and good analyzing capability. And for scoring well in the general knowledge part, candidates are advised to study different books to answer general knowledge questions from history, geography, about Constitution of India, among others.

Keep your study sessions short

Short is better than strenuous when it comes to studying sessions. An average human brain can’t intake everything you study about during a long study session. This is to say that if you are among those who study for over two hours at a stretch, it is much likely that information that you read will slip out of your mind during exam hours. This is because of the fact that mind cannot keep on retaining new data for long. After a certain point in time, your mind may wander to other things.

So, if you want to score well in a competitive examination, don’t just study for the sake of studying. Do take at least 10-15 minutes of break between your study sessions. This will refresh your mind and help you retain the topic that you read. It is believed that when you study for a limited time, your brain works more efficiently without any conscious effort on your part. Also, do not cut down much on your sleep time as doing this may make you feel frustrated with things easily, thereby, impacting your preparation.

Mix it up

Experts advise students to not study a particular subject for long and take on different subjects one after another. For instance, if you have been studying for the legal aptitude part for over two-three hours, you might want to take up data interpretation, general English, or some other sections next. This way your brain will be able to absorb all the three subjects much better.

An aspirant is advised to start from the basic concepts and then move to higher and difficult levels of the concepts because if you start from a difficult and intricate topic, you won't be able to grasp much as you are unaware of the basics of it.

Do away with the distractions

You can’t afford to have distractions in the endgame. An urge to stay updated with all the social media happenings may end up distracting you from your studies. If you have a habit of checking your phone after every few minutes, you might end up losing valuable time of your studies. Thus, do ensure to stay far away from any sort of potential distraction while studying.

You may even fix some time for your social media browsing. If you really enjoy doing it, then assign 15 minutes for it. This will not make you feel like a punishment and help your studies. Same goes for any other kind of distraction — be it playing video games or watching some show. Assign a limited time for such refreshments and stick to that, so you don’t miss on studies.

Previous exam papers

Solving the question papers of yesteryears will give you the idea of the kind of questions that usually come in the exams. Doing this not only pushes you in the right direction but will also help you realize your weak and strong points.

Often students end up reading about sub-topics which do not have even a remote chance of being asked in the exams. Thus, solving and analyzing the previous question papers will cut the clutter for you and save a lot of crucial time.

Study material

Do make sure that you good and relevant study material. Go for the books that explain things in the simplest manner. You don’t want to first “decode” the book’s language and then understand the topic.

To help the case further, you can always make notes by yourself. Take out a register and put down all important topics of all subjects that you study, so that you don’t have to search for different books every time you want to revise a topic. You will always find it easier to do last-minute revision from your own notes rather than going through the topic from the book again. Just make sure you do not skip the essential points of a topic while making your notes.

Time management

One of the most important things to work on for scoring well in the entrance exam is time management. And not just for the study schedule but time management is also crucial while giving the test. Chalking out a study calendar to cover the syllabus is a highly practical and realistic approach and is suggested by the experts as well. Good time management to cover the syllabus will save you from last-minute hassle and anxiety as well. This is taught very well at law college.

The pace is the key

If you want to crack the entrance exams, just studying won’t do. You have got to work on your speed as well. Scoring high requires you to be accurate while not taking long. Mock tests can be a great help in this regard as they can speed you up.

It has been proven time and again that smart workers have more chances of succeeding than hard workers. So, do not get too immersed in a single question. If you don’t get the answer in the first attempt, move on. You can come back to that question later if you finish your exam a little before time.

Sound health, sound mind

To fight any battle, you need your body to be healthy. So do eat healthily, stay hydrated, and sleep well. This will better your memory power as well. Other tricks which you can use to boost your memory power are — reading out loud, visualizing what you read, revising what you read, among others.

So Prepare smartly for your forthcoming competitive exams. Wish you all the luck.
