Ports are used to identify the type of service out of junk traffic.

      Thanks

      dude,

      Please remember one more thing

most of the protocols uses port number only in the transport layer

      not in the other layers

      for example say icmp

      it wont use port number

most of the technical interviewers try to target u at these sort of things

Firewall is hardware and it doesn't use any specific port. They are used to block/unblock ports.
