The Sun transits through Aries from March 21st to April 19th depending on the year. The Sun’s movement into Aries marks the Spring and Vernal or Autumn Equinox in the northern and southern hemispheres. This is when the sun crosses the equator, making day and night equal lengths. Astrologers celebrate this day of the year, as it represents the astrology new year when new cycles and new beginnings take place. The new cycle begins with autumn when we cultivate in preparation for the harvest in the spring.

The position of the Sun in Astrology

The Sun is the most important planet on the zodiac, as it symbolises our vitality, conscious mind and will to live. It’s the adult and inner child, giver and creative life force. The Sun’s position in our astrology chart represents our self, basic identity, goals, soul or life purpose and mastery of the sign we are born under. It’s what we are learning to be in our lifetime! Look towards the Sun to provide direction, with learning the answers, describing “who you are!” and shine your light bright. The Sun’s energetic traits when in positive alignment include, purpose, proud and creative. The shadow side shows up as self-centred, judgemental and extremely wilful with an overly extended ego. The Sun is the rulership of the astrological sign Leo and governs the 5th house on the zodiac.

Aries is the first sign on the zodiac, and processes the qualities of leadership and independence. Aries are the doers, being the first to begin a project with drive and determination to complete the task at hand long before all others. Aries governs the 1st house in astrology, with Mars the God of war as its ruling planet. Sun in Aries is initiation, devotion, action orientated, tenacious, and risk-taking, it is fast paced, bold, courageous and enjoys a challenge. During this time as the Sun shines his light bright on the Aries traits, you will be eager to start something new! It’s an energy that finds it hard to be still, it’s young and spontaneous with little to no inhibitions at all! Have awareness for being impulsive with Sun in Aries as its assertiveness and raw driven energy, generally knows what it wants and sets out the quickest way possible to obtain it. Aries is very active and likes to use their physical bodies to get things done. Many athletes will have prominent Aries or Mars in their astrology charts. This is a good time to join a gym or begin a personal training program or new exercise regime.

This sign also represents our passion, desires and sexuality which will definitely ignite the energy and intensity in the bedroom! You will be daring, decisive and to the point, especially with Mercury (intellect and communication) travelling through Aries. The Sun in Aries can be impatient, especially with people who have hidden agendas, play games and are underhanded. Here you will have zero tolerance for such behaviours and may find yourself irritated by such indirectness, so be aware.. the basic instincts of this sign turn towards anger and aggression, having no issues what so ever with being direct and telling you how it is! Especially at this time with Mars, Aries ruling planet, transiting through Capricorn and is in a square aspect (challenge) to its own sign. Sun in Aries is the pioneer of the zodiac. For those who are goal-orientated and possess entrepreneurial skills and abilities, the Sun’s position here, gives you the willpower and enthusiasm to initiate creative new projects, new business ventures or expansion of existing business. While you may enjoy a challenge with Sun in Aries, there is a childlike quality that is magnetic and playful and willing to try something new.
