I Wouldn't Be Here Without October!

It's as simple as that. I would not be here writing this hub without October 3rd, 1991. The date also secures Libra as my Zodiac sign. Although some of the characteristics of a Libra do apply to me, I don't identify with a lot of the other characteristics involving charm & sociability. However, there are a few quotes from an analysis of the sign and what it means that do resonate within me:

  1. "Libras feel most complete when they are coupled up with their lover, forever."
  2. "The element associated with Libra is Air, and that means reaching higher, specifically to the higher mind."
  3. "They also love the colors of the sunset sky, that melding of ivory, pink and light blue."
  4. "It's the Scales that symbolize Libra, and just like that balancing mechanism wants to stay even, Libras want to be on an even keel."
  5. "Libra is ruled by Venus. In ancient Roman mythology, Venus was a smooth seductress who was at her best amid pleasurable excess."

October represents the season of autumn or fall in North America. One can enjoy a smooth breeze, sunlight filtered through the clouds, crunching of leaves & overall sense of calmness. October is a month of peace, reflection & meditation. I feel at ease on most October days, relaxing with a long walk in a calm park or trail. If I do read, it's better to do so outside or with the windows open to allow the calming breeze in.

Wearing My Sunglasses (Towards the Evening)----------

I wear sunglasses, or "shades", for a multitude of reasons. First off, they provide protection from harmful UV rays emitted by the sun. Secondly, they provide a defensive layer to external threats (like bees, flies, moths & other flying insects or particles). Thirdly, they allow me to observe my surroundings as well as others inconspicuously. Last pointedly, they simply look cool. Some people may wonder why I prefer wearing them even in the absence of sunlight, but I usually just ignore them because there's no point in explaining such subjective points to a non-believer.

Halloween------------------------------------------------------------

The celebration of All Hallow's Evening, popularly contracted into 'Halloween', is a holiday on the 31st day of October. The holiday's main purpose is to recognize, honor & remember the deceased. However, I imagine that Halloween is typically more recognized for the secondary activities that are often associated with the month, such as:

  • Watching horror movies
  • Trick-or-Treating
  • Visiting "haunted" locations
  • Eating massive amounts of candy & junk-food
  • House decorating & lighting w/dark themes

Black Cats--------------------------------------------------------------

Cats are often associated with Halloween as being the pet of choice for a witch. Black cats, in particular, are at risk of being exploited during the month of October for ritualistic practices or temporary "props".

Zodiac Signs----------------------------------------------------------

October is home to two Zodiac signs, Libra & Scorpio. Libra, bestowed upon those born in early October, is associated with the following:

  • Balance/Unity
  • Physical & Internal Beauty
  • Peace
  • Justice
  • Passion

Conversely, Scorpio is associated with persons born after the 23rd of October, resulting in the following defining characteristics:

  • Determination
  • Loyalty
  • Independence
  • Persistence
  • Ambition
