The Problem With First World Problems

Human beings are a pathetically pretentious breed. A harsh proclamation that may be difficult and displeasing to hear; But attempting to profess such a statement, and simultaneously please or placate someone would be futile and redundant, but the hows, whys and whats are blatantly obvious and lucid-There is an inherent brand of narcissism and self-absorption that the species is collectively culpable of. Even the most altruistic person in the world would be so purely by their own conscious decision and effort, and so would beg constantly caught in the eternal web of internalised focus, despite pursuing the external generosity and benevolent philanthropy that they would pride themselves upon. And despite the lack of a single specimen that would be exempt from liability in the less than appealing trait, it is not entirely the fault of humanity.

Humans are simply that way by nature. It is a primitive element of an animalistic impulse, that no matter how civilised or domesticated people claim to be, the species is inevitably condemned to. Often people are aware of this, and can attempt to escape the self-imposed pressure of guilt that they hold themselves accountable for. They contrive facades of compassion, and maintain a guise of magnanimity, all seeking exoneration from their own internal judgement. And it even reaches the point of autonomous duplicity. They become honestly convinced that what they are doing is not disingenuous, and are left stunned and befuddled at the prospect of an explanation as to why they only produce polar and obverse results.

All too fixated upon personal trials and toils. That is the affliction humans are subjected to. The scale of the degree of these difficulties and concerns vary on a broad and expansive spectrum by way of their pertinence to the grand scheme of the transpirations of the universe, and are specific to an individual. Everyone is confronted with a veritable cavalcade of challenges that can imitate one another in their aesthetic manifest, and distinguish themselves by the inter-relative course of development between issue and subject. The indiscrimination of the disciplinary eventuations is only provided uniqueness by the reactive response to them, and various mental, emotional and psychological interpretations and deficiencies can affect the consequential wake of the situation.

It’s all relative, and even with an incentivised and conscious effort to proportionally analyse and put into perspective, the ability to rationalise a circumstance currently in effect is remote at best. This is where the gradation of the severity and implicit priority of the tackling of the obstacles receives its genesis. The toils and strains of the day to day torment of life are contemporary to an individual, but an increasingly prevalent topic of pertinent debate is that of the fabled and proverbial “first world problems”. Because as if the most pressing matters weren’t enough to occupy the concerns and anxieties of the person they are oppressing.

People struggle with poverty and homelessness, abuse and manically deficient pathologies comprising their mentality, and the admittance of the loss of a loved one. They are universal to such a degree, that they can affect any multitude of the alums of the animal kingdom authentically and legitimately. Humans have the narcissism to not only propagate the sanctimony of their own complexity and “especial” circumstance that “no one could possibly understand”, but to also complain about the issues that affront them with less intensity; Such as the never quite so isolated incidence of the case of lost keys. Another person could fall prey to their mobile phone exhausting its battery capacity, and the hysteria of the distressing events is only exacerbated by the pet peeves that all seem to conspire to besiege them. Leaving the toilet seat in the raised position is really not beneficial to anyone.

People constantly bemoan the tribulations that are giving them umbrage, while simultaneously manufacturing excuses to become as benign as possible-They only feel enabled to when in such a position as to be able to cope with their own difficulties though. Of course, that is only logical, because of the tendency for any amount of trivial or astronomically affronting problems consolidating to form an internal dystopia of the mind can overwhelm and effectively debilitate beyond the point of help. The threshold of tolerance for frustrations can become compromised, and the resulting stress can consume an entire life for the duration of its persistent plaguing.

No volume of considerations for how minor those concerns are in contrast to the ethical, moral and economical quandaries of the energy and mineral crisis’, bigotry and radicalised extremism, terrorism and war profiteering, and the poverty in Africa and Asia in particular can compensate for the tension of the immensely consequential draft invading from the open back door. People genuinely feel contrition for the preoccupation that leaves them desensitised to the harrowing tragedies of the world all too frequently, but cannot step back and dissociate themselves for long enough to implement significant change. The mania suffusing the concerns for charity and consideration for the fellow person has undergone a radicalised transition of identity of its own.

The very awareness of being considerate and sensitive to the issues of the world, and the controversies and polarising debates pertaining to them, have themselves become first world problems. Politicians constantly disseminate agendas to encourage the noble indulgence in aid for those less privileged, but many of the working class are in contempt for the hypocrisy of those messages due to the lack of any first hand experience with anything less than a life of luxury on the part of the nation’s representatives. The issues currently afflicting the world are really inextricably linked to one another-The indelible impacts influence each other, perpetuating the relentless cycle of the futility. And no matter the gravity of any particular scenario, they are reflective of their contemporaries. The influence occurs as a repercussion of the harbouring of baggage from previous experiences that are inadvertently projected externally.

And once again, it is the draw back to the compulsive intuition to serve or respond or even defy the mania of the nature of the very being. It goes beyond the mere simplicity of, but essentially parallels the fundamentals of resisting temptation. The prophetically profound sentiments of the yin and yang can be interpreted as an expression of the lavish pleasures of selfishness juxtaposing the dutiful responsibility of servitude of what is just and equitable. The faults in the former are obvious, but those consisting within the latter are more vague and perplexing; The pursuit of justice and what is “right” is admirable and commendable, but even the most benevolent of pars for the course and a rational cause are only so because they are permitted to be by an individual’s determination. Psychopathic pariahs of society can actually live with the belief that what they purport and exact was righteous-An extreme example of the genocidal ethnic “cleansing” Hitler spearheaded was perfectly virtuous in his opinion, though the consensus of the majority would dictate that it was a contemptible travesty.

But there are the blatant pitfalls of falling into the sanctimony of taking the moral superiority. “Be the bigger person” is a phrase often used to proselytise someone on one side of an argument as if to advocate a conditioning of a mental reward for taking the “high ground”. It is an incentivised treat for assuming the pursuit of honourability instilled from birth in all that receive a “correct” upbringing through the implementation of both positive and negative reinforcement. Aligning and assimilating to a mentality of nobility still remains the advisable course of action in life for most, but is there such a thing as completely unconditional and sincerely cordial curtesy anymore? Did it ever exist? Of course acts of kindness still remain in proliferation, whether through symbolic gestures, physical assistance or otherwise, but they are always in contention with the accommodation of another’s needs or desires for the purpose of facilitating the will of one’s own.

A foray into principled egalitarianism is still an aspirational endeavour, and a far cry from the comparative insignificance of a juvenile fixation on the first world problems that threaten to inflict their own ominous transgressions against the wellbeing of an individual. So what is the purpose of engaging so ferociously with the tackling of the mediocre mundanity of them? It can boil down to the intent to simply fill one’s time with something meaningful and deposing the mere subsistence of coasting through the various ordeals of life. To contrive a profound conclusive summary of the meaning of life-It is comprised entirely of one’s decisions and reactions to the repercussions of them. And first world problems are an inconvenient hindering liability to the escapades of the mortal condition.

The plenitude of contributing factors that predispose their influence manifest so prevalently appear in their droves; And running the labyrinthian gauntlet of the convoluted entanglements of suffering through cerebral palsy or depression and the torment of dysfunctional wifi connection seeming to deliberately collude in order to impel the wrath of leaving devastation in their wake while simultaneously contributing to the equitable distribution of impartial parity supporting the experimental resolute solutions for treating cancer or dementia presents a task that can totally be an over-encumbering burden. An awful lot of these issues are eventuations in the fallout of humans spelling doom for one another. It is the fault in the system of the precedent set by centuries of subjugation, class, elite status and all of the denoted maltreatment and neglect that have created this disparity.

Again, they are actions impelled by human nature predominantly, but to excuse the sins of the fathers by way of that and to vindicate people would be baseless. The manipulation of the societal paradigm has come curtesy of them, and it is not entirely one way(advantageous or detrimental). And so, attempts at redemptive action, whether of a person or of a group of people(enacted in compassion by a conducive vicarious emissary), is a rudimentarily thankless task. However, the selfish, narcissistic convictions cannot infest a persona without being accompanied by munificence, just as vice versa. The greatly amplified manifest of this is in the disorder of a bipolar personality for instance. And while that is more involuntary than in someone not affected with such a case, aspects of the experience can be empathetic.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but there can be salvation in redemption. The culmination is realised with the conclusion that it has and always will find its base in the confluence of both the intuitive impulses of nature, that will be complemented and defied by conscious determination. There is an abundant whirlwind of dynamic pretentiousness surrounding the quandary, but the verity of it consistently reigns as the most pertinent element of consideration. It can be all too easy to become over-immersed with first world problems that people constantly strive to overcome, but in fact, people depend on them to provide the escapist reprieve from those jarring disturbances. It is all a necessary distraction.
