Updated on January 17, 2016

What Is Punctuality?

Punctuality is the habit of doing a thing at the right time. A punctual man gets up at the right time in the morning. He takes his breakfast in time. He is never late in rising from bed and in attending to his duties. Punctuality is a good habit. We can do things at the right time if we want to. But it is not an easy matter. It is easier to loiter and kill time putting off things to do for tomorrow. In this way we get into bad habits easily. It is easy to form a habit but difficult to get out of it. We must be careful to do a thing at the right moment. The best motto to keep before us is, "Do it now." We must try to learn the habit of observing punctuality from the very beginning of our livers. This quality can lead to the qualities that can lead to being successful in life. You will get enough time despite completing all the work and never suffer with the problem of time management. Here we will discuss different aspects of being punctual and its importance in bring successful.

Punctuality Is Success

Time waits for none. So become punctual.
Time waits for none. So become punctual.

Punctuality, the Root of Success:

A punctual man gets ample time in his life. He can do many things. A punctual student learns his lesson in time and finds no difficulty in passing the examination with distinction. He never lags in the class. He can follow his lesson from beginning to end. It saves his time. He has not to labor so much. He need not work hard at the time of examination. He makes a better performance with a minimum amount of labor. Punctuality crowns him with brilliant success in life. Apart from educational prospects, a punctual student can manage his time in all the other sectors of life. He can participate in extracurricular activities and perform well in those activities too. Also he can play a crucial role in the society’s development with his own efforts. He does not keep connection with the bad students and human beings and mixes with the good ones. He can lead his friends in good work and make himself a good leader. He can do all this because he gets plenty of time for doing all this and still no problem is there with the proper management of time.

Importance of Punctuality in Professional Life:

A doctor's lateness means the loss of a life and a lawyer's lateness might mean the ruin of his client. To a businessman punctuality is equally important. If he fails to be punctual in his appointments, his business might be paralyzed and might suffer serious financial loss. On the other hand if a shopkeeper opens his shop punctually, has a regular approach of customers. As a result his business prospers day by day. From these examples, you can easily understand that without punctuality you can never expect to become successful in whichever profession you are. Without this quality of managing time properly, you will never get to your desired goal ever in your whole life. Lives of great men show that they were all punctual and their success in life was due to punctuality. They persisted with punctuality despite all the difficulties. That’s why they were able to reach their goal and make their make in this world. Even in most cases their success has become an inspiration for the people around and for those who will come in future.

A late Man Suffers:

A late man is an enemy to himself. He is a nuisance to everyone. He is disliked by all. He suffers for that. If he gives word to his friend and cannot keep it he may lose his friends. A late man cannot even say his prayers in time. Not only that but he cannot perform any of his work on time. As a result he suffers greatly to maintain proper time management. He never does well in the exams and finds it very much difficult to even pass the exam. He wakes late in the morning and goes to the bed late. He has no proper timing of breakfast, lunch and dinner. He cannot perform his daily works properly. As a result he does not get any scope of performing any extracurricular activities and he struggles throughout his life. The root of this suffering is simply one- not being punctual. So if anyone wants to get out of this ever struggling phase from his life there is only one way-be punctual.
