About Organic Evolution ... Religion and Carbon Dating

1. If you have an inability to accept that others may know things that you do not, this article is for you.
2. If you have a contentious spirit and hang doggedly to a point even if it is disproved, this article is for you.

You might hear some fantastic things.

The truth is, we do not know for sure. There is no proof that God did not use evolution regarding animals. There is nothing revealed that states organic evolution was not used in the creative process at some point! There are statements that would call organic evolution into question and dismiss it as a viable truth theory, however.

The question of organic evolution in this article is viewed from my personal beliefs, which are heavily influenced by the doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My perspective is mine alone, but my points lean heavily on the revealed truth from God through His prophets. living and dead.

My first point, which is not just my assertion, but a revealed truth, is that human beings all come from Adam and Eve. Adam was the first man and the first flesh (Mortal being--speaking of Adam and Eve together).

When the Lord spoke to Moses He asserted,

I, the Lord God, formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul,the first flesh upon the earth, the first man also; nevertheless, all things were before created; but spiritually were they created and made according to my word. Moses 3:7

I assert that since Father in Heaven has a body of flesh and bone, as most members of The Church believe, that He breathed the breath of life into the bodies of Adam and Eve. It is my opinion only. I think it though, but it is subject to change with revelation from God.

The Lord Jesus was very explicit in His statement about how man came to be. The mysterious part comes in when He says that He took man from the dust of the ground. What did He mean by that?

Did he mean He took the elements of this sphere we call Earth and formed the body of Adam? Could He have grown the body of Adam from a germ into adulthood before he breathed life into him using CPR? These questions are not clearly answered.

The temporal existence of the earth refers to its fallen condition since Adam and Eve left the garden. Notice in The Pearl of Great Price in the "Book of Abraham chapter 4" the creative days are mentioned as periods respecting the idea that the creation happen over millennia rather than thousand-year periods or 24-hour periods.

Equating these creative periods to the type of days that occur on this temporal and telestial Earth is the assumption of uninspired individuals trying to understand the creation without the inspiration of heaven to guide their minds beyond this one earth. I know this is throwing a little bit of "shade," but it is true.

The theory purported as fact is just a THEORY and not a fact! It is another theory that does not damage the Edenic experience.

Yes, Earth is old. Carbon dating proves that the elements on this Earth are OLD. Carbon dating also is not an exact science and can be disproved and has been as a process that is one hundred percent accurate--though I believe carbon dating is a good and appropriate measure for historical dating.

"... the believed amount of carbon present at the time of expiration is exactly that: a belief, an assumption, an estimate. It is very difficult for scientists to know how much carbon would have originally been present." [1]

The fact that there are so many variables to include when doing carbon dating, and verification that needs to occur, that if the dating has not occurred within the last ten to twenty years I am suspect of the numbers or the years.

The ratios of C14 beyond 8000 years are not sufficiently known since no trees have lived that long or been measured for isotopes, rendering dating older than 8000 years ineffective using carbon dating. Scientists have to use other isotopes to date things.

Carbon dating on the Earth proves nothing; but, provides evidence that life was on Earth 8000 years ago. Anything past that is in question.

As far as the age of the elements of the Earth and the geological formations that are dated, even the migration of humanity from continent to continent are all great possibilities and explain the genetic similarities in humanity. However, humanity began the mortal sojourn on Earth no more than 7000 years ago.

Adam and Eve lived in their immortal and innocent state of being for many years--even millennia in theory. There is little doubt that Earth is millennia old. There is no proof of any of this carbon dating beyond eight millennia; however, and even that so-called proof is questionable.

Carbon dating is a faith-based process and not an exact science that refutes the statements of the Prophets of God who reveal that humanity began in mortal form 7000. Yes, humans lived on Earth long ago, but they were immortal humans, and only two of them.

Evolution?

There is NO proof of any kind that one animal evolved from another. There is no evidence that one animal evolved from another.

People tend to get Proof and Evidence confused because the definitions are so close and they are used synonymously sometimes. There existed a subtle difference between the two that makes all the difference when speaking of things like evolution.

1. Proof of something implies concrete evidence that something is a fact.
2. Evidence of something implies something exists that supports the fact that something occurred.

There is evidence that animals spontaneously appeared, but none that a fish evolved into a land-dwelling creature. There is no evidence at all--not even a mutation that indicates that humanity evolved from anything but the germ in another human's womb!

To emphasize this FACT that there is no proof or evidence that animals evolved from others, think of the experiment that Charles Darwin based his theories on. He observed birds and saw that the birds formed a new species of bird.

Notice that BIRD is the new species and not a cat or a dog. The new species was a different type of bird. The animal did not evolve into another species of animal but a bird. Once a bird always a bird.

However, the animal did evolve. It just did not do so through speciation. Websites explain this process so confidently as if it is a proven fact rather than an assumption based on limited information. Organic evolution does occur, as mentioned before, except it does not include speciation.

Evolution is a correct principle, however, there is no evidence that any speciation occurred on this planet. It may have happened on another sphere, but not here. That's another story.
