Usage of Gas Meter

Air in the environment is made up of 20.8% Oxygen. It is very dangerous to use our human body to sense whether there is enough oxygen in the environment. The minimum oxygen content we need in the air to function normally is about 18%. Anything less can cause impaired coordingation, poor judgement, mental failure and even coma when oxygen is less than 10%. The use of a gas meter which can cost about US$700 is needed to help personnel working in risky environments or confined space where oxygen can be depleted.

Paper Production

History of paper goes way back to AD105 in China and then in Korea, Japan and various countries. Paper is made of millions of tiny hairs. These are called fibres. The process involves debarking, and goes through a mill to reduce it to pulp and then mixed with water before placing onto screens and various processes before the final product is completed in rolls. Characteristics of paper include coating, brightness, opacity and dimensional stability (shrink or stretch).

Paper Recycling

For sustainability of the environment so that our generations to come can still enjoy the world's resources. Recycling involves reuse, reduce and recycle. One method of recycling waste paper is use it for making small boxes as a receptacle for trash.

  1. Fold the paper into half.
  2. Fold the paper into half again
  3. Unfold the paper to form a delta wing shape on both sides
  4. Flip the delta wing over as demonstrated
  5. Fold the lower left corner to align with the centre line
  6. Repeat this step for the lower right corner
  7. Fold the lower part up as demonstrated
  8. Insert locks to prevent sides of the box from unfolding




Canoe Polo

The need of a pool to play the canoe polo, lakes or reservoirs as long as it can fit 10 boats in it. Divided in 2 halves. The goal frame is suspended 2 metres above the water. 2 halves of 7 minutes each with 1 minute change interval. 5 players per team with 3 substitutes. 2 referees on each side of playing area. Skill set involves sprinting, tackling/bracing, paddle control and shooting/passing. Some rules like 5 seconds, illegal tackle, illegal use of paddle, and obstruction or holdling are implemented to keep control of the game.

Lower the ISO is always preferred as higher ISO will increase image noise (grainier).

Area opening increases as f-stop increases. f3.5 - background will be blurred. f10 - background will be sharper.

The lower the shutter speed, it will be more sensitive to camera shakes. 1/250 capturing the water dropping from a leaf. and 1 sec will catch the flowing of river or waterfall.

Hangman Noose

Hangman Noose was initiated during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. However, the hangman noose can be applied to other usages too besides capital punishment for crime. It can be used to tie fishing lines to hooks, or other items which need to be secured firmly. This is not suitable for cowboys which use ropes to secure the cows.

Shoe Padding

Shoe padding is a service to customers where we paste pads in the heel for a snug fit if the shoe is slightly loose, using double-sided tape to secure the padding to the heel area of the shoe. Reasons for using shoe padding - some people are born with one foot with size which is slightly different from the other. As shoes come in pairs and sold in pairs, shoe paddings help to adjust the shoe size to fit the size of the foot.

As in greetings, the following needs to be practised.

  1. Smile
  2. Have eye contact
  3. Correct body posture and gesture
  4. Volume of voice should be appropriate
  5. Tone of voice should be lively and friendly
  6. Follow Organisational SOP for your greetings

POS Hardware and Software

POS (Point of Sales) System is where a retail transaction is completed. The hardware includes the scanner, cash register, printer, AIO (All In One) computer with touch screen capibility, cash drawer, sutomer display. Other devices which may be connected to the system include weighing machine, credit card machine and cash card reader. Interface types include parallel port, serial port and USB. POS Software is needed for communication with POS hardware, and used to control the peripheral devices.

Errors Caused by Human Factors

70 to 80% of aircraft incidents are due to human factors. Human factors is the science of understanding human capabilities, limitations, behaviour and emotions. There is the dirty dozen of human factors which may cause accidents. Preparing Bottle-Feed for New Mothers

Bottle feeding is needed when there is a need to supplement with formula milk when breast milk is insufficient or when mother is not able to provide due to illness. Bottles need to sterilize using cold water sterilizing solution, steam sterilizing or sterilizing by boiling. Boiling used to be a traditional method, the earlier two methods are newer and recommended. In preparing the feed, ensure infant formula is not expired, and use boiled drinking water cooled to 70 degrees C. Usage of mineral water is discouraged as minerals like sulphate maybe be present which may not be easily absorbed by babies.


Diabetes and Glucose Sugar

There are two types of Diabetes, namely Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 happens when body is not able to produce insulin. Type 2 is when the body is not able to produce enough insulin. Blood glucose can be measured by a blood glucose machine. Ideal blood sugar is between 4.0 to 6.0. Optimal range is between 6.1 to 8.0. Blood Glucose Log helps a patient track and monitor his blood sugar level before and after meals (to be taken 2 hours after meal).
