Your Mind
‘Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will’ – Romans 12:2 (NIV)
The greatest hindrance to your Christian walk is the way and manner you think. The Devil is not your problem; it is what you think about the Devil.
When you stop thinking like mere men and start thinking like God, because you are God’s image, then your mind will be perfectly renewed. The word ‘transformed’ as used in the above text means a change of outward expression to be in accord with the one within (Colossian 1:27). This word is the Greek word ‘Metamorphoo’ which means to change into another form. For example, the metamorphosis of Worm to butterfly is a complete change of form (Physical appearance).
God purchased us, and He has a purpose for us. In the light of this purpose; He has translated us out of darkness into the marvelous light of His Son, a suitable spiritual environment – I Peter 2:9 – 10
However,, we must transform ourselves by renewing our minds with the Living Word of God. A man that is spiritually bound will remain to be a slave, even if such a man is made a king.
The Mind can be classified thus:
a) Intellect: What we think (Opinion)
b) Emotion: What we feel (Feelings)
c) Will: What we want (Desires)
Knowing this classification, then we can appreciate Apostle Paul, when he warned us to renew our mind: that is, we should let the Word of God control our opinion, feelings and desires.
There is a transformation that is presently taking place in our lives and this change is in our minds. We must not limit God by the way we think, for the Bible says as a man thinketh in his heart so he is (Proverbs 23:7)
Allow me to say it again that the Devil is not your problem; it is what you think about the Devil that mar or make you. The way we think about a certain thing will determine what we say and what we say determines what we eventually do about it, and what we do speaks of who we are
In conclusion, if need be we all need to renew our minds every day, it is a matter of life and death. The Bible encourages us to see things as God sees them. Hear its counsel:
‘For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind’ – II Timothy 1:7
Do not limit God by the way you think – renew your mind!
