    Who will profit from the Common Core State Standards?

    Republicans and Democrats alike are suspicious of the new national standards.  The development of the standards was funded in part by the Gates Foundation and Pearson testing company.  Will the new standards really benefit American children or simply line the pockets of corporate America?

    Of course--you have answered your own question.  There is no doubt in my mind that only the pockets and bank accounts of those creating the testing materials will benefit.
    This "teaching to a test" is what has gone wrong with our educational system, and explains why kids are leaving school with no life skills.  We need a return to the old-fashioned educational standards without reliance on artificial, external interference.

    Just another ploy by corporate America to get richer and dictate what direction public education is going in.  We are merely the puppets in this corrupt system of greed.  As DzyMsLizzy says, children are leaving our schools without learning what is necessary to succeed in life.  I am convinced that our government likes having mindless citizens who cannot think for themselves and mjust rely on government to satisfy their needs (ie. why we have more people reliant on welfare and other government funded programs and less people educated appropriately).

    Microsoft and Pearson stand to gain substantially from implementation of the common core through the creation of common core based curriculum and the implementatin of contract schools.
    There is a lot of money in education- just none in teaching.
