my grandmother was full Cherokee from NC, never left they hid and hid their culture.  I want to...

belong and prove my heritage, I know I'm Cherokee by all of the the inner feelings and things  that have been with me all of my life, I'm different.  Can you help, I know her name and my great grandparents names which are full blooded but not on rolls because they hid.

Why don't you contact some Cherokee Indians, or read some books about them?

Feelings are nice, but the Cherokee Nation is a sovereign nation, and in order to be a member, you must prove blood relation.

Unfortunately, if you cannot trace any family members to any of the several rolls that are in existence, membership is not an option.

You can have a DNA test run. It is not too expensive now, my dad's Gma is 100% Cherokee and he is going to establish the link by DNA this spring when his tax money comes back.Don't listen to what others say...I did not know but knew I was different, I felt different and in sinc with the old ways, My Gma is Blue Clan and she had an excellent medicinal herb garden, people came from all over for her to help when they were sick. I raise and breed Savannah cats and have as my pet an African Serval. I always loved Panthers with everything in me and my art always reflected nature and Native American in flavor. I did not know I was of indian blood because it was hidden as you said( and I am Irish looking with freckles and green eyes) until I starting dating the cutest Cherokee boy when I was 16 and I heard my Aunt( Dad's Sister) tell my mom that Blood will always tell out and when I ask her what she meant she just said to me had I never wondered why my grandfather was so dark with raven's wing hair and so tall with no facial hair? I ask why it was not told to me before and she said in years past it was shameful to be a dirty ignorant injun or worse than that, a half breed. Oh well I do not care now and did not then, I embrace my Cherokee roots and you should too!
