People Are Like Lights...
The Lights of Life
I have often viewed people as lights. There are many types of lights in the world that we cross paths with every single day. Some shine so bright people stand back from them in awe of their brilliance. Too scared to dare come any closer but longing to feel the rays of their brightness.
Some are flickering lights flashing on and then off again. You think they’re about to shine but they manage to let things stand in there way only to go out before they truly get their chance to project their radiance.
Some are dull, never allowing themselves to shine at all. Safe in the background behind all the other shining lights. Only dreaming of how bright they could be but do nothing to let their dull glow grow.
There are those that are fast flashing lights like comets. They come into our lives, show us how bright they are and vanish, moving on, influencing and affecting someone else. Never knowing how admired and spectacular they are.
Untamable lights can be held, touched, observed and sometimes understood. Though, sometimes dull or flickering lights pair themselves with these unbridled lights and don’t know what to do with them. They realize that they can not control, subdue or keep up with the constant brightness of this irrepressible light. They are then forced to let these lights go in order to let them shine bright before they smother and dull them down to a glowing ember.
What about you? Do you choose to shine above all else? Or are you a backlight enabling others to shine, guiding their path? Some lights in our life come and go to teach us. Others are more stable and stay in our lives, enhancing our being and making us a brighter light. Enabling us to become what we thought we could not. So, what type of light are you?
