Tina and Tom were twins. Tina saves and Tom spends. Tom found a $20 note on Sunday evening and spent $2 a day starting on Monday. But Tina started work that Monday and gets $2.50 a day. What is the first day when Tina has more money than Tom?Let Y be the day when Tina's Money is equal to that of Tom's money.

20 - 2Y = 2.5 x Y

20 = 2.5 x Y + 2Y

20 = 4.5 x Y

Y = 20/4.5

Y = 4.44

Tina had more money by around midday on Friday.

But you should learn to do your class home work on your own.Tom has $20 which he spends @ $2 per day starting Monday.

Tina saves $2.50 per day starting on the Monday.

One needs to find out on what Day does

Tina have more money than Tom?

$2.50 will be represented by 2.5

Therefore I'll use the formula

.................... 2.5n > 20 - 2n (change side - change sign)

...........2.50n + 2n > 20

.....................4.5n > 20

..........................n > 20 / 4.5

..........................n > 4.44...

So Tina had more money than Tom in the 5th day which was the Friday, as n > 4.44

To prove this let 5 represent n in the formula

........................2.5n > 20 - 2n

...............= (2.5 x 5) > 20 - (2 x 5)

...............=.......12.5 > 20 - 10

...............=.......12.5 > 10

Therefore the answer is Friday.
