MATH HELP WITH QUESTION???? ?

Carter left Pittsburgh at 10:00AM traveling east at 50 miles per hour. At 10:30AM Duncan left Pittsburgh traveling east at 55 miles per hour. How far had each traveled when Duncan overtook Carter?At 10:30 AM Carter had traveled 25 miles.

So 50t+25=55T

Let me quickly explain this. At 10:30 both people are traveling. The time that each person has traveled after 10:30 is the same.

Each equation gives the distance traveled from Pittsburgh. Both are equal when they have traveled the same distance.

Lets solve it.

5T=25

T= 5 hours

The distance equals 25(5) miles=275 miles.
