Where are the Saxons from?I know the Angles and Saxons are referred to as Germanic tribes but Cf Pliny.
The Saxons earliest known area of settlement is Northern Albingia, an area approximately that of modern Holstein - the region between the rivers Elbe and Eider. It is part of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany.
They invaded England from what is today Denmark. Ethnically, they were no different from Germans or the later Danes.
Ok Folks,Does this mean that you make no connection between the Saxons who invaded England and the Saccocenes mentioned by Pliny?KP
