    I think they are absolutely ESSENTIAL.

    I absolutely HATE television - there is so precious little value ever conveyed through the idiot box.

    Libraries are quite different!!!  Oh how I loved to go to the old library on the town square when I was a child!!!!  I'd get in there and start looking at books about animals and far away places, and my Mother would have to pry me away to get me to leave!

    I think Libraries are better than schools.  Once a child learns to read and write well enough - he or she no longer needs state sponsored indoctrination via public schools, all the child needs is the will to learn, and a library!

    They are crucial, of course. Even if not so widely used at the moment (because of the Internet) let's not forget that they are the proven by the ages to be the best place for storing various readings. Heck, even if civilization falls libraries will remain smile

    To the majority of people, the Internet is more of a fashion statement, rather than informational resource.
