How much does the eye really see?

Cats and dogs spook over seemingly nothing sometimes. There are elements that are not visible, yet clearly present. Wind, gas, and gravity are examples of accepted realities. But the human eye doesn't pick up every signal that is sent. What are we missing?

Technically speaking- as I often do.... - I found this answer  -Roughly the visible region is 300 nm to 650. so that's 350 nm total. The electromagnetic spectrum goes from 10 Megameters to 1 picometer. So the percentage of the spectrum occupied by visible light is tiny, just 3.5 X 10-9 divided by 10^19.
    Found at-http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_percentage_of_the_electromagnetic_spectrum_is_visible_light

TRANSLATION- NOT A HELL OF ALLOT.
Although some people- "sensitives" can see auras and psycic vibrations around people... So - i guess it depends on who you are...
